Box: ACL Brewers Gold 6, ACL White Sox 3

Tied at 2-2 after five, the good guys scored at least one run in the next three innings.

***

Hedbert Perez, playing CF, singled and homered, the long ball his first of what is hoped to be hundreds (heck, thousands, why not) as a pro.

Remember when then 18-year-old (recently-turned 19) catcher Jhonnys Cabrera opened the season as Payton Henry's emergency backup for the first couple of weeks in Biloxi before finally entering a single game? He doubled, singled, and walked here, driving in two.

Stateside debut for 1B/OF Juan Frias, who was the DH here.

3B Alberis Ferrer fanned all four times up, but you know, at the rookie levels that's going to happen a lot, so we won't go out of our way to point out Golden Sombreros regularly moving forward.

***

19-year-old RHP Yerlin Rodriguez walked three and threw three wild pitches, but two runs in 3.1 innings will work in your 2nd pro appearance.

Look for 6'7" RHP Christian Tripp, the former Mets farmhand, to migrate to Carolina or Wisconsin soon. He dominated in his 2nd outing in the desert.

RHP Keegan McCarville made his second rehab appearance as he comes back from June 2020 Tommy John surgery.

LHP Pablo Garabitos surrendered a run in the 9th, but registered all six of his outs via strikeout.

106 (but cloudy) at gametime. No sunscreen, pitchers!

Rehab outing #2 for RHP Dylan File, enjoying the major league minimum salary while on the 60-day DL.

Speaking of rehabbers, strikeout-groundout-strikeout for RHP Justin Topa. Giddy-up!

Speaking of rehabbers (again), welcome back to 21-year-old LHP Antoine Kelly! First batter reached on a throwing error, then it was GIDP and lineout in a quick first outing after surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Kudos to the young (well, you can assume most mentioned are young) Dominican RHP's Alexander Cornielle and Junior Montero for five innings of shutout ball with ten K's to close things out.

***

Four RBI, including a three-run HR for CF Arbert Cipion.

Catcher Jeferson Quero 0-for-2, but two walks.

2B Jheremy Vargas tripled and singled.

20-year-old Daniel Castillo reached base three times without a hit in his 2nd game down from Carolina.

Two degrees warmer in Maryvale at 108.

Box: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 15, DSL Tigers 13

Linescore is fun, box score is fun.

Combined numbers: 28 runs, 30 hits, 17 walks, nine wild pitches, only one HBP, five errors, game time four hours, 52 minutes.

Pro debuts for RHP Stiven Cruz, RHP Dikember Sanchez and LHP Leoni De La Cruz. Rough one for Sanchez.

Several of the batters made their pro debuts in Monday's game.

Six doubles among the Crew's 18 hits.

Sweet pro debut for 17-year-old Venezuelan SS Pedro Riera, 3-for-4 plus two walks. He was pinch-run for in the 8th, hopefully just from being gassed from running on base all day and not due to injury.

Box: DSL Pirates Gold 4, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 2, seven innings

Just-turned 19-year-old Nicaraguan RHP Alexander Vallecillo with a very pretty four-inning scoreless pro debut, congrats to him!

RHP Jonathan Cruz (Cuba) and RHP Michael Perdomo (Venezuela) followed with pro debuts of their own.

***

Top international bonus baby 17-year-old Jackson Chourio seeking that first pro hit after (OK, two games).

With the exception of 1B Isaac Curbata, every batter for the Brewers in this game is in his pro debut season.

Kudos to 18-year-old Dominican infielder Luis Watter, who singled as a pinch-hitter and is perfect in his career.

Sunny and 85 on the island. We can copy and paste that for the rest of the summer.

Nice wins for Nashville (walk-off), and by comfortable road margins for Wisconsin and Carolina.

19-41 Biloxi, we love you, but a stumble Tuesday.

Full updates by mid-morning. The rookie kids present the usual time-crunch challenges. Thanks for sticking by us.

Great to see Kelly's name in a box score again, plus a Hedbert Perez home run. Pretty good night on the farm.

Yep, really looking forward to seeing how Kelly progresses the rest of the year.

What's up with Hummel? He was tearing the cover off the ball, walking more than he struck out, and now he's vanished into thin air...

His last start was 7/9 and he pinch hit on 7/13.

Probably just dealing with a minor injury or something.

Or maybe he's looked so bad in LF they are waiting to for a series with a DH to start playing him regularly again.

Pre-Game Media Notes

McGee Goes 4-for-4 in 10-4 Series Opening Win

Michele Vassalotti turned in another solid outing in Carolina’s series opening victory

***

Ernesto Martinez ejected, apparently arguing being thrown out at 2nd trying to stretch a single. The 6'6" Martinez was playing CF for the 2nd time in his career, both this season.
