Shoot. We could’ve used that dropping.

How does Reyes still occupy a roster spot? Where does he add value?

Did Robertson make it through waivers or was he claimed? Will Milwaukee potentially send him to Nashville for depth?

We need a bat or two & a solid bullpen arm or middle of rotation arm soon.

I would guess he is not long for the roster, and his continued presence on it is probably entirely dependent on the health of Kolten Wong.

I ask you to look at all rosters across the major leagues. They all have guys like Reyes as their bottom ends. And he’s our bottom end with injuries.

Wong and Cain...hopefully. As for the arms, it's really hard to complain about what we have right now-- but sure, talented add-on bullpen help is always appreciated.

His value is mostly in the fact he can stand at a bunch of different defensive positions around the diamond. I assume when Kolten Wong comes off the IL that Reyes may be the odd man out (and optioned back to Nashville).

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I'd guess most contending teams have better top ends than we do though. The only way to contend with that is to be better at the margins, particularly with the way CC uses his roster. Having said that, he is gone when Wong comes back.

Hard to believe they don’t have a better platoon option at first base then Hiura and his .580 OPS. Daniel Robertson had a .577 OPS and lost his roster spot. Yet they continue to give out at bats to Hiura

So now it’s a battle of bullpens that theoretically gives the Brewers the advantage. Or does the advantage go to the team with more offensive punch?
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Right. We've got half a starting lineup (if you still count Shaw as a 'starter') on the IL. If even 2 of those guys are healthy, Reyes is in Nashville right now.

I agree. And with Wong back, Peterson becomes that role and your statement comes true. I just think fans are sometimes very unrealistic when it comes to roster makeup.

We're still the worst in the NL at 1st (WAA)

Peterson regardless of the results always has good at bats. Most of the lineup can learn a thing or two watching him hit.

He was pretty horrible until becoming a Brewer. To what would you attribute his success in Milwaukee?

They showed a video of the difference the other day after he took deGrom deep. If I remember correctly he has been keeping his hand back and making contact deeper and not out in front. This has also helped his pitch recognition.

I wonder if Haines made those suggestions?

I know this is far from a "must win" game but it feels like a very big one. The momentum and vibe between going into the break 6 up on your biggest competition, versus 4 up, plus a series split versus a loss, just feels big. Hope they can come up with a way to scratch this one out.

The Brewers probably use different statistical evidence to make their decision but one could simply be his last 28 days since coming back: .255/.361/.510/.870

I am beyond frustrated with Hiura, but he has youth and upside.

Robertson is a known quantity of poo. Big difference.
