The Brewers offense is 7th in the NL in runs scored. They could be better but they could most definitely be worse. They had a really nice stretch in June where they were one of the best offenses in the league at that time. Now they're going through a rough stretch again overall. Sucks, but that's baseball.

There are a few guys with more long-term struggles relative to their career performance, mostly veterans. It's concerning, but it does happen. But Haines was the same guy here when Yelich was putting together MVP caliber seasons. I doubt he just suddenly told him to change his whole approach.

Also, I am far from a Haines apologist and depending on how this season plays out I wouldn't have any problem looking in another direction next year, but I don't know how you can criticize him for the guys who are down and ignore the emerging bats like Adames, Urias, Narvaez, etc.

Man. I would think about pulling Woodruff for a PH here. It's a big multi run scoring opportunity of which we don't have many, you have 5 days off coming up and Woodruff hasn't been near his best today anyway.

If they pull Woodruff after one more inning I will be pretty disappointed with Counsell not taking a shot there.

Eh, who would you hve pinch hit with that would give you more confidence than the pitcher they'd have to put in to cover the next (and probably next two) innings?

Just an observation, but by the way so many here fawn over the Reds, you'd think this is a Reds fan site. It isn't new, either. Been that way for years.

It’s a good observation. It’s weird to say the least.

Some people fawn over the reds, others complain about people not being fans in the correct manner. It's like it's some weird collection of people here where everyone has a different opinion or something.

It’s so weird that some fans pay attention to division rivals and think about how they stack up to the Brewers. And that they pay special attention to how the teams play against each other.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Taylor is the only competent hitter on the bench but we do have the option of using someone like Burnes for an inning or two.

Woody is gonna get a long break after today. It wouldn't surprise me if they pushed him 100+ pitches today, provided he remains at lease somewhat effective.

Probably Taylor and then 5 for the pen. If Woodruff was dealing today I would probably lean toward letting him stay but he's laboring. Not sure throwing away the chance is worth squeezing another inning or two out of him on one of his bad days.

Wonder if the deciding factor there was just no lefty on the bench. Giving up the platoon maybe takes enough out of the position player upgrade to stick with Woody and try to get a few more outs.

So he isn't scheduled to start the first game after the break?

I don't think it is weird for fans to compare the Brewers to the rest of the division. At the same time there has been an irrational love on this board for the talent the Reds have for about 4 years. It has been a little odd to say the least. If the Brewers lose today they are still 4 games up and there were posts recently asking where the Brewers are better than the reds that seems fairly over the top.

They aren't putting Burnes in today. If you believe that Taylor would have come through there and Lauer would have held the Reds lineup the next couple of innings, then sure. I'm not.

Really doubt Burnes throws today. Let that knee heal and start him on 8 or so daus rest out the gate.

They haven't set the rotation yet. Might depend on if Burnes or Peralta throw in the AS game.

After the Reds they have an off day, the Royals for two, then another off day. I would think they load up to try and make a statement coming out of the break.
