So then it really doesn’t matter right now. It’ll only matter in September by this take.

I realize that you just like to pick arguments, but that is an absurd interpretation of my point. I don’t think even you believe that teams don’t evolve over the course of the season, and that their composition and how they perform in the last few weeks before the All Star break is more predictive of how they will perform in the second half than how they played in April.

Anyone who thinks the Reds haven’t improved significantly, specifically in the pitching department, since the early season has his head in the sand. And the Brewers have seen that improvement.

I just don’t think your point has much behind it. The season is a marathon. There will be good and bad stretches. The Brewers just finished off 33 games in 34 days. Does that factor in at all? Of course it does. The Brewers won 4 more games than the Reds to the all star break but you’ll give no credit to the Brewers for doing so. Just that the Reds had a better, not by much, series days before the all star game. Are the Reds better? Maybe? Maybe they will surpass the Brewers before the end of the season. But you state it as though it’s final and it’s definitely not.

The Reds have the talent to upend the Brewers. They have for the last several years. It hasn't happened yet. Frankly that is because they are run like crap. For some reason, they traded their closer and top relief pitcher this offseason. And guess what ... their pen is their Achilles Heel. Maybe this'll be the year they put it together. But I'd guess it won't be. They'll eventually implode.

Let’s hope the brewers find themselves a hitter because this offense won’t get it done.

It can get it done. If the guys they have get healthy and hit to their career norms it would be plenty with our pitching. That’s the easiest way for this to be fixed.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Not unless the big 3 in the rotation match what they were able to do in the 1st half. That is a tall task, though, that I'd prefer they not have to do if possible.

In a perfect world, they find a bat to improve the lineup, and the starting pitching continues to be strong and, more importantly, injury-free. That is asking a lot, though.

For a point that you think doesn’t have much behind it, you sure are spending a lot of energy attacking it. Just like you attacked my comment about the Brewers having trouble against left handed starting pitchers and telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about. So, I had to go back and provide the facts.

If you think I am declaring that the Reds are absolutely going to finish ahead of the Brewers, that is your interpretation. If we aren’t supposed to offer some opinions about where things are headed, what is the point of boards like this? Just wait until the end of the season and discuss what happened.

I have never seen a sports related message board on which game threads don’t include a lot of venting. If that kind of talk bothers you so much, there is a simple suggestion and I don’t have to tell you what it is.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
