2021-07-11: Reds (Castillo) at Brewers (Woodruff) [Brewers lose, 3-1 -- Crew hits a speed bump heading into the All Star Break]

Catch the damn baseball. I know those aren’t easy but too many from Garcia. Too many.

Let's just say he took the scenic route to get to that ball and didn't exactly exert himself to get there which meant he had to jump.

Another ridiculous in-game thread where posters love to act like they're MLB umpires and tell posters that "from their view" yadda, yadda, yadda.

It was a stupid call; just like it's been a weekend of stupid and bad calls. If you don't think so and you think it makes a less reactionary Brewer fan... congrats?! i don't get what you gain from it. It reminds me of the Milwaukee bartender who I argued with that took the position Mike Trout wasn't a great player. If you want to take a contrarian position, that's on you, just don't be a dick about it.

Sometimes a contrarian position is just wrong and can't be backed up with actual evidence, other times a contrarian position can be supported through sound logic and reasoning.

Likewise, just because a belief is the consensus among one group doesn't mean it is based in any sound reasoning. We are all human and emotions do come into play in how we interpret things. Obviously, if you went on to a Reds board yesterday my guess is that they interpreted the 2-2 pitch to Castellanos quite differently than the masses here as well as the move by Yelich to 2nd.

All I did was point out that there was no actual evidence that the umpiring yesterday was any worse than any normal MLB game (as opposed to the first two games this series), and I even provided the link to the umpire scorecard on page 1 of this thread to support that reasoning. I don't know why you would have such a problem with that.

The Adames out stealing call, I think the foot absolutely came off the bag, what I'm not happy about is the defender's foot being the reason why.

The cleat portion of his shoe is 3/4 of an inch tall. I don't know how "absolutely" can be determined from the angles provided.

Sitting Hader down every time the Brewers went ahead by 4 runs may not have been the best thing. He’s been pretty terrible since his long layoff.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Totally reasonable and I think it's totally reasonable that a player sliding into the base should be allowed a split second to come off after going in at full speed and the spirit of the replay rule certainly didn't intend for calls like that to be reviewed but until they change that rule or allow for a split second to come off the base it really doesn't matter so by the letter of the law, Adames being out is very likely the right call.

I don't have DVR, when I was watching the replays I thought his heel came up but I'm willing to hunt down a video to reevaluate.

I honestly don't really care how a Reds' board would interpret the weekend; obviously they'd feel pretty good.

There have been numerous terrible calls this weekend by this crew that shouldn't matter if the team would just take care of business, but since they've gone into a hole, it's been highlighted how bad the calls actually are.

What I have beef with are posters who act like they are, somehow, less reactionary than other fans because they somehow agree with some of the terrible calls we've seen this weekend; Adames' "overslide" today being part the latest example.

Why would we have a problem with that? I can only speak for myself in that I don't really appreciate posters telling others that they're overreacting to a bad call when there's literally ZERO evidence of the call being different from the initial call on the field. Please, explain to me what you people are seeing that we're not because when a call is made on the field it should be OBVIOUS that there was a different outcome; not just someone saying "there's a degree of doubt whether or not he stayed on the base."

Sorry, I'm not going to let this go.

Also, this is an in-game thread where people get to vent.

This game is 1-1, but it feels like the Brewers are losing 8-1.

I Still Believe.

Me too!! ;)

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
