trying to be positive. really really trying. but somebody needs to get rid of manfred. all i'm saying.

Manfred did not start instant replay.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

You guys, that behind the base view where it looks like his foot is off (because it is and you can see him slam his foot back into the base while the tag is still being applied) is about as definitive as you can get.

Doesn't mean it actually is definitive. The call shouldn't be made what you think happened.

Box is our #3 and AT LEAST half the league would love to have his production as their #1, particularly our current opponent and competition for the division championship.

I was with you on the first part. Then you totally lost me on the second part. There are not 15+ teams that would use Brad Boxberger as their closer/#1 option in the pen. That's a major exaggeration. He's been very solid for us and I'd pretty much leave it at that.

It was a little trick of language there, in that half the league would love to have his production thus far as their #1 production...not that they would use him going forward as their #1. It might not be far off though at this point.

You can’t see whether his entire foot and all cleats weren’t touching the bag. Sorry. You’re still wrong

I’ll be honest, Adames should clear the hell out of his ankle the next time he gets a chance to. That will help stop what just occurred.

You don't need air between his shoe and the base when his foot slams back onto the base. A foot doesn't slam back onto the base unless it was off the base.

There needs to be a safe zone after initial comtact with the base.

Not sure what you're saying here. Like, you shouldn't have to actually stay on the base?

Within limits, but yeah. You should be able to stay above the base after initial contact, and a fraction of an inch off shouldn't mean you're out. I really dislike treating the base like a deified object.

Jesus H Roosevelt man. you comment on everything I post. it's not just replay. It's the glove checks, it's the runner on 2nd rule, the 3 batter minimum.

Still an assumption and not definitive.

The one where people have eyes and use them to look at things.

Nowhere in that view could you see that his cleat was not in contact with the bag. You are assuming it was. But that is not the definition of definitive. It appears you are being contrarian simple for the sake of it.

Where is the definitive view?

The behind the base view was pretty definitive.

I watched all of the angles the broadcast provided, and that behind the base view didn’t show any clear space between his foot and the bag. There was an umpire standing right overhead the play, so if you’re going to reverse it you better have an angle that shows clear space in-between his foot and the bag. Otherwise you’re just guessing, and we’ve been told they don’t guess and those end up being inconclusive where the call on the field stands.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

So it was just a random comment after a replay didn’t go our way about hating Manfred? Got it. :laughing

Has anyone else on the Tampa Rays struggled to hit the ball at The Trop or is it only Adames?

Tampa as a team generally hits better on the road, some years fairly significantly. That obviously isn't remotely normal so it would seem like there is something to it.

Using replay to see if a guy came off a base of a fraction of an inch for a fraction of a second, something an umpire probably can't even see with normal human vision, is clearly beyond the spirit of the rule, and probably something replay was never intended to be used for. It's a shame that it's come to this, because replay should be (honestly, really should be) just a helpful tool in the kit to help make officiating easier. Instead, they manage to bungle it worse by taking something easy and mangling it way beyond the spirit of the intention and this is what we end up with.

I'm on the side of his foot did leave the bag, however I think its bs that the defender can just stick his foot in front of the bag like that.

I think there are people on this board who unconsciously root against the Brewers cause they weren’t built the way they think they should have been built

Agreed.
