Sounds Lose Another Tight Game to Louisville

First Time Losing Consecutive Home Games Since June 12 and 13

 

26-year-old Cooper Hummel (and his career .388 OBP) donned the catcher's gear for the first time since 2018 at then-High-A Carolina (has appeared in 88 games at catcher since his debut in 2016). Louisville stole two bases here - Hummel is at a solid 31.7 CS rate (33 of 104), although obviously that's a gap in time. The switch-hitting corner outfielder automatically is a useful 3rd catcher for any big league team seeking that roster flexibility. You know the organization needs to maximize trade material for the deadline. Would not be shocked in the least to see Hummel included in a deal.
