Well at least if the Brewers do comeback and somehow win this game it will be absolutely soul crushing for these Cubs fans.

May it be according to your word.

gonna be awesome when the Brewers win 9-8

Does it make a difference if they win today and lose tomorrow instead though? Either way they are going 1-1 over the next two days..at this point in the season I think you need to just try to rack up wins and not worry about the opponent.

Yes, it does make a difference. If the Brewers win today and lose tomorrow, they are either 5 or 6 games up. If they lose today and win tomorrow, they are either 4 or 5 games up. Today's game counts twice as much in the standings (assuming Pittsburgh is not a threat to win the division).

But this is all speculation whether the Cubs will be a threat to win the division or not. With Baez, Rizzo, Bryant heading into free agency and Kimbrel with a 16 million club option for 2022, the Cubs have 30 days to decide if they are in or out, because they simply are not going to let those three (probably four) players walk with no compensation.

To that end, one game in the standings isn't going to make the Cubs buyers, or stand pat as opposed to selling.

I do know that Pittsburgh is not a threat. Even, with all those factors you mentioned...yes, I do believe that where the Cubs stand will make a difference as to whether they buy or sell. This game is not one game, it's two. Cubs win, they are 4 games out, they lose they are 6 games out.

But maybe we are going to win anyways!!! :)

Weird, it's almost like there were still 8 more innings to play after the 1st inning.

Ashby didn't do himself a bunch of favors, but the shoddy defense in the 1st is looming pretty large right now too.

One more time for emphasis. Can't help but feel that the Cubs would have scored 2-3 runs less had the defense helped out a bit.

One of my earliest Brewer memories as a young boy was playing out in the backyard all afternoon and listening to the entire game on the radio in which the Brewers rallied from down 7-0 to beat the California Angels, 20 to 7.

To fuel the Burnes fire, they can still put him in this game if they wanted to lol.

Why? It's done. Enjoy what is happening now.

I think one can make this observation and enjoy what is happening now simultaneously.

Perhaps I was responding to the continued discussion regarding Ashby?
