I think Haines was just backing Yelich.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

So many odd things about this game. Haines getting so angry and tossed is still puzzling. That frustration would have been understandable at so many points this year with the Brewer's offensive struggles. But with some of the recent offensive outbursts, you would think he would be in a much happier place. Maybe he had an argument with his wife or something this morning.

Might've been just to save Yelich. Yelich was exchanging words with the ump on his walk back to the dugout so Haines might've stepped in to take the fall before the player did

This would absolutely be my bet....

Sometimes I think Counsell has made a deal with the Devil. Even when he seems to make a highly questionable decision, he so often seems to get away with it. Maybe that's just my perception.

Maybe he just is a good manager? So many want to be smarter than he or Stearns and so far both have to be looked at as tops in the game.

They both won’t fully be appreciated until they’re gone.

I'd suggest that he's basing those decisions that seem questionable to us on information/analysis that we don't have available to us, making it less questionable to him in the first place.

If I remember correctly, Haines got tossed once before when he was equally mad, and the Brewers ended up scoring a bunch of runs after. Today, the first grand slam of the season immediately followed. Correlation doesn't necessarily equal causation, but I'll allow him his temper. So far, so good.

Possibly...but even when Yelich protests, he does it in a very calm Yelich way which rarely gets him tossed (has he ever been tossed?). I mean Haines was really really angry for someone who was just protecting one of his players.....and it was a correctly called strike. For the most part, the home plate umpire has been good.

That could be. I clearly believe he is the best manager we've ever had although that bar has been pretty low IMO. But I'll still say he has been kind of lucky at times with his decision making.

I had a flashback to September 9, 2018 when Counsell was ejected after MadBum beaned Brauny to load the bases. Jonathan Schoop followed with a grand slam (his only positive contribution as a Brewer that I can recall).

Yeah, despite my disagreement with not starting Burns, I have always been a pretty big Counsell supporter. I really enjoy watching the emotion he throws into this team. He really cares and I think the players pick up on that.

Hooooooooly crap has Adames been an absolute joy to have in this lineup. Probably our best acquisition since Yeli, and I'm not sure 2nd is close unless I'm forgetting someone....

Urias seems to be trending well.

Bump.

Understatement.

Yeah, Urias has absolutely exploded since the Adames trade. Hard not to be excited about that duo right now.
