Aaron Ashby gets the start which will mark his major league debut. Ashby is only expected to go a couple of innings in what is expected to be a bullpen day for the Crew.

In my own personal 'admit your mistakes' moment, as someone who thought the Brewers might/should sign Arrieta a few years back, I'm sure glad they didn't. He was pretty good his first year in Philly, but pretty mediocre at best the last two, all while making gobs of money. Now, he's really not good at all anymore....

Let’s hope this trend continues! Keep finding ways to win!

His second year in Philadelphia he wasn't any good and ended up needing elbow surgery in August. His control and strike out ability are pretty much still at his career averages, however he gives up more hits now and substantially more homeruns (including a whopping 10 homeruns in 42 innings on the road this year).

If you go to the game today, please report on Chorizo in the sausage race. I root for Chorizo every time, and his effort and results have been garbage in the games I have gone to. Unacceptable, and if it continues, I expect them to call up a Chicken sausage soon. Would even consider Impossible meat at this point.

Based on the 6-man rotation they seem committed to during this stretch without any off days this appears to be how things currently line up heading into the All Star break…

July 1 (@ Pirates): Burnes

July 2 (@ Pirates): Houser

July 3 (@ Pirates): Lauer

July 4 (@Pirates): Peralta

July 5 (@ Mets): Woodruff

July 6 (@ Mets): Anderson/Bullpen

July 7 (@ Mets): Burnes

July 8 (Reds): Houser

July 9 (Reds): Lauer

July 10 (Reds): Peralta

July 11 (Reds): Woodruff

July 13 (All Star Game)

They have a lot of off days in three weeks after the All Star break, so it should give them a chance to reset the rotation somewhat.

I would selfishly like that rotation, because I would rather the Brewer pitchers rest than pitch in the all-star game. Maybe they can get chosen, for bonuses and recognition, but in that rotation, only Burnes would be eligible to pitch in the game. Hader, too, of course.

Interesting that I think that same offseason a lot of us, including me, wanted Darvish and all breathed a big sigh of relief when he got injured right away for the Cubs. Now he is back to being the pitcher we would have hoped for. Still glad we avoided both with the way our starters have developed but money aside adding Darvish to our rotation would be pretty sweet.

While it seems like a break to not have Rizzo or Bryant in the lineup, over the past 16 games each has played below are their stats.

Kris Bryant: 4-for-52 (.077 BA), 17 K, 7 BB

Anthony Rizzo: 8-for-51 (.157 BA), 15 K, 4 BB

Based on their ultra-conservative approach to the pitching staff, my guess is that they will still stick with the 6 man rotation even with the off days. Maybe by the end of September they will go to a 5 man rotation. Hopefully it will still matter at that point.

Just keep running the 6-man as long as you can. Why would they change? It’s working…
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

This isn’t looking good. Hopefully, he can settle in here with his command.
