Chiefs Put Out Rattlers Fire Late

Not sure I've ever caught this before, but it must have happened. 18 position players saw action, every player on both sides had at least one hit.

Quite the murderers row in the middle of that Carolina lineup.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Mudcats Win Fourth Straight 8-4 in Kinston

Zavier Warren and Joey Wiemer both hit home runs in Carolina’s 8-4 series opening victory

Joe Gray Jr., Zavier Warren and Joey Wiemer all on base four times.

Abner Uribe (three scoreless for the save) still pumping triple-digit heat, we imagine.

Zavier Warren has really been destroying the baseball since coming back from injury. I wonder if the org will let him ditch catching and develop at 3B. Clear skies for him to get promoted as we really don't have a 3B prospect blocking him at Wisconsin.

His May vs. June splits are pretty crazy but look at this tiny sample for the season of C vs. his other positions.

C 7 G .603 OPS .323 OBP .280 SLG BB 12.9% K 35.5%

1B/3B/DH 13 G 1.122 OPS .414 OBP .708 SLG BB 15.5% K 15.5%

Tiny sample just found it interesting, can't be easy trying to catch in the minors after not doing it much in college. I also understand the value of finding out if he can do it or not as we value up the middle prospects greatly.
