That was 100.7 mph off the bat for Hiura, and 414 feet according to Statcast.

Smith caught it front of the 413 marking on the wall, though...

Hiura’s first fly out would’ve been a home run in 24 of 30 MLB ballparks according to the Statcast data.

That was a lot of cheering for Garcia's RBI line drive there. It felt like there were more Brewers fans in the stadium that DBacks.

For a guy who bats like a buck fifty and has people constantly raving about his defense, I have seen more bad first steps in the outfield from JBJ than any other outfielder on our team.

I agree. I think the guy just stinks. Huge waste of money.

Series win! Still in 1st place! On to the Bucks game!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

All alone in first

No more diamondbacks though

It’s going to be tough to get a wild card with the dodgers giants and Padres playing them 18 times or whatever

Get some bats and win this division. Corner infielders please

JBJ's +6 DRS is currently 7th among all OF, while his +6.3 UZR is currently tops in MLB among all OF.

Brewers CF are currently 10th in MLB in WAR.

For as bad as he's been with the bat (drove in the winning run today though) we've still been above average overall in CF & are in first place.

Glad to get out of that series with 2 wins. Losing a series to a team like that would be like a PGA Tour golfer making a bogey on a par 5. Not a disaster but you’re losing a stroke or two to the field.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Not good enough!

I think JBJ would be the first one to tell you that his performance this season has been a long ways from "good enough".

His offense of course not. I do find criticisms of his defense comical however and that's where this started.

Edit: I don't think I'd predict he'll win another gold glove but he doesn't need to win one to be considered a plus defender. I wouldn't call any of the OFs lacking on defense, JBJ's few miscues stick out only because he's a lightning rod for his offensive underachievement.

Yes, but that also means that the Dodgers, Giants, and Padres have to play each other ~18 times.

I didn't claim he was a poor defender. I said I've seen him take a ton of bad first steps.

My mistake then, he's a really good defender that gets a ton of bad jumps. Apologies.
