No surprise, he’s trying to pitch hurt as he looked weird lumbering to first base when he hit.

Well if he was truly trying to pitch hurt then he was doing the team no favors. I can’t imagine they would’ve let him throw tonight if he was knowingly ailing from something.

They’re all competitors at this level. I thought something looked off as Anderson ran to first in the top of the 2nd. Maybe he pulled a muscle on the DP he hit into and it tightened up on him on the mound.

Both the high and low of NL rules. I love the strategy of the NL but it always seems to come at a cost in pitcher injury.

Here’s a trivia question I came across today that I found interesting:

Who leads MLB in home runs since the start of the 2018 season?

There are 6 players with 100+ home runs since the start of 2018.

Make a guess without cheating, I’ll give the answer shortly if no one guesses correctly.

This team is just bad. Counsell does a great job making chicken salad out of you know what

He dominates September though. Let’s hope this saving arms thing pays off. Because this six man rotation thing stinks right now

Meh. It's not bad. They have really good starters, or at least 3. 2 high end pen arms. A few good position players and others are garbage.

The bench stinks. Overall it's not a bad roster, but it's not a deep one.

Again, obviously pitching and run prevention is a factor, but the Brewers are 33-18 when hitting a HR.

When you get good pitching a HR or 2 may be all it takes to win.

Runs are runs no matter how they come, and the DBacks statistically have a better offense than the Brewers.

The Brewers weak offense and Anderson on the mound may just be the formula the DBacks need to break their streak.

Yes, that is my point although I could have said it more clearly. We are statistically worse in every category (except walks) yet have 20 more wins. Essentially our chances of winning are based on assuming pitching is above average and we hit HRs.

And my point is that the Brewers have 20 more wins than the DBacks because they are much better at preventing runs, not because they hit more HRs. The DBacks have scored slightly more runs than the Brewers but they are allowing about 1.7 more runs per game.

Consider this astonishing stat. The DBacks are 1-39 in games in which they have scored 4 or fewer runs. By comparison the Brewers are 14-28 when scoring 4 or fewer runs. That disparity can only be explained by better pitching, not because the Brewers hit more HRs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Acuna?

Part of the 4th place tie with 100 home runs.

Eugenio Suarez?

Yep, we have a winner. It’s Eugenio Suarez with 112 home runs.

Here is the top ten home run leaderboard since 2018:

1) Eugenio Suárez - 112

2t) Nelson Cruz - 109

2t) Mike Trout - 109

4t) J.D. Martinez - 100

4t) Nolan Arenado - 100

4t) Ronald Acuña Jr. - 100

7) Matt Olson - 99

8) Max Muncy - 96

9t) Christian Yelich - 95

9t) Manny Machado - 95

9t) José Ramírez - 95

If the Brewers win this game it’s going to come long after I have retired for the night.

The DBacks had to win again some time, and it looks like tonight is the night. Hopefully the Brewers can bounce back to win the series.

I acknowledge the role of run prevention, but the Brewers essentially need HRs to have offense adequate enough to produce wins. HRs produce 29% of runs (apart from runners on base) while only 21% of DBacks offense. Watching the 2nd inning, the DBacks got 3 runs off 6 hits, all of which are singles. The Brewers have had three run innings, but I can't remember the last time that happened where a HR wasn't involved.
