2021 ECF. Bucks vs Hawks: UPDATE - - - BUCKS IN SIX

This. Their defensive philosophy is trash. Has been for as long as I can remember. You watch Trae Young stand there...for 4 seconds...shimmy..and drain the shot..in your building with zero effort to defend it. It's just an embarrassment. And they have athletes who are perfectly capable defenders, but the game plan is to stand around in the mid-range and hope you have a better shooting night than they do. And when they go off again, well just tip their cap and dare them to do it again the next game.

I'm not concerned. I'm embarrassed for them. Losing is fine. Losing the way they do is why I just follow the box score, outside of a poorly placed video on ESPN from time to time. No, the Bucks didn't shoot well themselves, but giving up 115 in the playoffs...at home? Something is wrong on defense and it's not a lack of talent. I'll keep beating that horse until it dies.

You can tell effort from reading the box score? Which column is that?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned - the crowd was absolutely pathetic. I thought it might be a TV thing but I had 2 friends who were there and said it didn't even fill in until the 4th quarter. It was way, way too quiet in there for a CF game.

When you show the game for free outside and price the tickets at $170 a pop that's gonna happen.

Sad but true. Reminds me of how much worse the crowd got for Game 7 of the NLCS in 2018. I was at every playoff game aside from Game 2 of the NLCS, and it was shocking how much noticeably older and quieter the Game 7 crowd was. It was like going from hooligans at Game 6 to a bunch of retirees for 7. You could see it an hour before the game started, the kind of people who were filing in.

I don't know, I think that game 7 Brewers crowd was just nervous and then was taken out of it by the Dodgers' pitching being ridiculously dominant. The people I sat around in game 6 didn't really care about the game, but I was in a different spot for game 7.

As for the Bucks, it's bound to be a bit of a letdown when you just had a wild 7-game series vs. what might have been the best team in the NBA and suddenly it's game one on Wednesday night against the Hawks.

I hated the loss Wednesday, there's no mistaking that it sucked and was a huge let down. At the end of the day it was 3 points that decided it. Trae had 48 point, Capela and Collins combined for 34 rebounds (the Bucks as a team had 45) and Khris Middleton couldn't hit a jump shot whether it was a 2 or a 3.

3 points. If all that happens 3 more times then tip your caps to Atlanta.

What I tried to articulate is that previous seasons, watching 3pt defense, is why I only now follow the box score. I saw the shimmy video on ESPN front page and my decision was reinforced. Maybe the NBA Finals, I could stomach it. I hope they can do it.

Bucks are not playing around this game.

As much as Bud gets flack for not adjusting the Hawks coach is just as bad maybe even worse. Their defensive plan is just horrible. Offensively it looks like it is chuck up a three by Young or have him drive to the hoop if that doesn't work then it is in give up mode.

This is exactly what we had to do. But reminder that Philly was destroying them in Game 5, by about 25, and lost.

We are up by 32. If this game ends with us down 2-0 in the series the series is over because I can't imagine a more deflating loss.
