2021 ECF. Bucks vs Hawks: UPDATE - - - BUCKS IN SIX

Meh...sucks to drop the first one but similar to the last series it's good to get the wake up call early. Young isn't going to score 48 every night.

Giannis is a stat sheet filler MVP. He is consistently a factor in every single game overall. However, he isn’t going to go beast mode and carry the team, he isn’t going to hit clutch threes, he doesn’t have a high basketball IQ. When it comes to the end of a game you don’t even want him to have the ball, let alone take a shot with his his FT woes.

If you want a guy to lead your team to a championship, is Giannis even Top 5? Not too sure myself.

Not saying he isn’t one of the best in the game, but wow, on a game to game basis he sure gets overshadowed a lot. Sure has a lot of playoff disappointments.

Yikes. Settle down. It's a best of 7. Giannis has gone into beast mode with plenty of 40+ point games. He was 6/8 from the line tonight. If you are expecting him to hit clutch threes all the time, sorry to say that he is not Steph Curry.

Middleton 0-9 from 3 point land. If there a reason they lost, look no further than this sometimes player.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Midds sucked, but Holiday picked up the slack. That game should have been 100% over at 111-107. They absolutely blew those final minutes.

I said a few pages ago I was worried about this game being like Heat Game 1. I really hoped I was wrong, but now I hope that's all it was. Losing Game 1 sucks.

I hear this all the time after a Bucks game. "Oh he'll never go off like that again." But yet they do. Maybe our defense isn't all it is cracked up to be.

This. Their defensive philosophy is trash. Has been for as long as I can remember. You watch Trae Young stand there...for 4 seconds...shimmy..and drain the shot..in your building with zero effort to defend it. It's just an embarrassment. And they have athletes who are perfectly capable defenders, but the game plan is to stand around in the mid-range and hope you have a better shooting night than they do. And when they go off again, well just tip their cap and dare them to do it again the next game.

We 100% need Game 2. I know we were down 2-0 to the Nets but at least we were heading home, we cannot head to Atlanta down 2-0.

Right now I think we probably are looking at leaving Atlanta with the series tied 2-2 in a dogfight in my hopeful scenario.

Oh, so Trey Young is going to be this year’s Kawhi Leonard. The guy who just single handedly beats the bucks and they never come up with a solution. This series got messy in a hurry. At least this Bucks team isn’t as good as the 2019 team, so losing to the Hawks won’t feel as bad.

Man, I'm sorry, but you need a new horse. This routine of yours...they were 8/32 from three. I was really, really hoping that if the Bucks dropped Game 1, which I thought had a pretty good chance of happening, that the rollercoaster of the last series would help temper the hot takes...but, oh well.

The Bucks will be OK. There are going to be more lumps on the road to the title. I'm not overly concerned...yet.

Maybe give them 2 games to work on a solution.

It's fine to be a R-E-L-A-X guy but I can understand why people aren't.

They massively disappointed in the postseason the last two years. The last series was great, but there's no real recent historical precedent to look at and confidently say, "They'll be fine". I don't know if they'll be fine.

I'm not concerned. I'm embarrassed for them. Losing is fine. Losing the way they do is why I just follow the box score, outside of a poorly placed video on ESPN from time to time. No, the Bucks didn't shoot well themselves, but giving up 115 in the playoffs...at home? Something is wrong on defense and it's not a lack of talent. I'll keep beating that horse until it dies.

There's a middle ground between "it's fine" and "series over, Giannis sucks."

Nah, series definitely ain't over. But I'll be approaching Game 2 with a lot more anxiety than I would have otherwise because they've got to get it. At least go into Atlanta just needing to steal 1 of 2 games to make it a best out of 3 with HCA.

I could see this series ending up like Boston and I could see it ending up like Miami. Gun to my head I'd say they still win the series but I certainly wouldn't bet a significant sum on it.

Defensively it might be a good idea to bench Lopez also. He just can't help at all on the picks as he is standing 15 feet away. Starting lineup should be Jrue, Middleton, Tucker, Portis and Giannis. Lopez needs to be coming off the bench and Connaughton should be locked up in someone's basement so Bud doesn't play him.

What most stuck out to me was a team that rebounded just like Jabari Parker. They just stood there in the paint and waited to see if the ball would bounce in their laps. There was a late play where Capella just ran up in front of them to get the offensive rebound. This is despite the fact that Milwaukee is the bigger team. Did Budenholzer make them do wind-sprints Monday and Tuesday or something, because they definitely looked like the more-tired team.

You could see the last two minutes the Hawks hit desperation mode and started jacking up long 3s as if they were down a ton. Milwaukee didn't lose because of Trey Young, but because of the lack of rebounding, not boxing out Capella and others who put shots back, and not actively fighting for rebounds. I don't care of Young gets 50 every single game of the series--he's their entire offense, after all--so long as nobody else gets any points.

Yah, the defense was pretty putrid and like there were bricks attached to their feet. Then you got Giannis slapping Young in the face on a three pointer, just brutal. Can't be sending Young to the FT line 12 times in a game.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned - the crowd was absolutely pathetic. I thought it might be a TV thing but I had 2 friends who were there and said it didn't even fill in until the 4th quarter. It was way, way too quiet in there for a CF game.

When you show the game for free outside and price the tickets at $170 a pop that's gonna happen.
