German Marquez has dominated the current collection of Brewers hitters over a sample of nearly 50 plate appearances. Brewers hitters are 6-for-45 against him with only two walks and just one extra base hit (a Christian Yelich home run) while striking out 12 times. Those numbers do include some pitcher at bats, but the overall line still isn’t pretty even if you remove those 6 PAs.

The Brewers haven't had a 200 strikeout starter since Gallardo in 2012 (I believe), but it looks like they are destine to have at least one guy do it this year. Greinke/Gallardo both did it in 2011. I am guessing the franchise has probably never had three do it in the same season, I would be a little surprised.

Rockies are 23-14 at Coors this year vs 5-27 on the road.

This is going to be a pretty telling road trip for the Brewers as they play two generally bad teams with pretty extraordinary home-road splits. The DBacks splits aren’t quite as dramatic as the Rockies, but they are 9-30 on the road, losing the last 22 in a row, including the 4 to the Brewers.

Not surprisingly, the Rockies are scoring almost 6 runs a game at home, so we can’t expect the Brewers to go in there and win 2-1 games. But you have to wonder about the Brewers ability to score enough even in a friendly environment against suspect pitching to compete with a good offense.

So far, the Brewers season has been pretty sharply divided into 3 segments of 3-4 weeks each. First was the 17-10 start, then the 4-13 slide that dropped them below .500, and then the spurt that pushed them to 38-27 before the 3 game sweep by the Reds. The question now is whether the Reds series was just a blip in the midst of a generally good stretch or the start of another skid that will send them back below .500. Seeing the offense go completely silent against some decent, but not generally great, pitchers is not a positive sign. Neither would another road series like the one in Philadelphia in May.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I think Nelson was at 199 when he injured his shoulder so we may not want to bring this up. :)

No injury needed for these three, crackdown on sticky stuff may do them in. That coupled with any goal to limit innings down the stretch.

I know we're in Colorado but I think it's safe to say this one is over and we can all find something else to do tonight.

No way our offense comes back from this, even in Denver.

I want to believe. I don't think we've really had a slugfest this year. Maybe the Atlanta game back on May 16. Would like to see one.

I hope this is just bad luck + coors and not something to do with a lack of sticky stuff.

Well the Garrett Hampson home run had an exit velocity of 92-mph and an expected batting average of .080. It was basically a routine fly out that somehow flew out.
