Would be nice if Yelich decided to be a good player again.

He is good. The problem is that he’s going to be paid to be great.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

He has gone from MVP level hitter to adequate player being paid franchise caliber money.

Yelich has been getting on base really well lately. It's something, in June he's been trending in the right direction.

But yeah when we got a runner on 3rd and no one out he needs to start being the guy we want up there again.

Doesn’t help that there’s no protection around him anymore. That has to factor in to his decline to an extent.

Jace Peterson, Tim Lopes and Daniel Robertson batting back to back to back in an actual MLB lineup is unthinkable.

We have got to do a much better job filling out the bottom of the roster.

He just needs to do something other than strike out the way he did.

You guys should probably go look at that 2018 roster and see how many plate appearances came from below average hitters. Your memories are failing you.

Do you really want to go back and compare this year’s lineup to 2018 and make the argument that this team isn’t significantly worse? Let’s open with 2018 Yelich vs 2021 Yelich. Then do the same with Cain and Shaw. Then compare Aguilar and Vogelbach.

Now, tell me who in the 2018 lineup was as much below league average as Bradley, Peterson, Robertson, Pina, et al. It’s one thing to be below league average and something else to be the absolute worst hitter in MLB.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Problem is Wong and Shaw are hurt and Hiura was ineffective. When healthy and producing, an IF of Hiura, Wong, Adames, Shaw with Urias and Vogelbach as backups is good. Robertson is probably adequate as the 26th man but Reyes, Peterson and Lopes have no business on the roster.

Arcia was real bad in 2018 and Villar was so bad they traded for Schoop. Of course they played Hernan too much as well but the 2021 team would be great with the 2018 lineup.

Villar had a .261/.315/.377 slash line for us in '18. Not great but I would take if over half the guys in our lineup today.

Agreed on Villar. I always thought that trade was stupid as I felt Villar was a much better fit due to his versatility, speed, etc.

I was around a buddy recently who knows someone that works in the clubhouse during those years and supposedly, Villar was an absolute ass face in regards to how he treated people.

Mahle couldn’t send Garcia to the IL with one pitch to the hand so he decided to take another crack at it.

I hope Garcia is OK. That’s the kind of shot on which a guy stays in the game to run but then is replaced in the field as they go for X Rays.
