2021-06-14: Reds (Gutiérrez) at Brewers (Lauer) [Brewers lose, 10-2 -- Pitching struggles and Crew goes hitless after 2nd inning]

Eye Black
Lauer looks like a better hitter than pitcher honestly, he passes the eye test I mean.

Darn, Uecker's reaction made it sound like that one was going to hit the scoreboard.

A legend and the soundtrack of Milwaukee summer…but sadly it’s tough these days to follow a game on the radio with Ueck on the call

Painfully true. He'll work as long as he wants to and rightfully so. But I listen for the fan reaction more to know what's going on than I listen to Uek's reaction.

Gutierrez approaching 50 pitches already. This is still very much a ballgame.

Great job settling in and getting us through 4 in this one.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Very nice. Got us through 5 giving up no more damage. Let’s go offense. Steal one.

Rock is talking about outfielders playing further back like teams only play that way against the Brewers. Pretty much all outfielders play further back than they used to against everybody. Saw a compelling article that it might be more of a significant culprit limiting offense than the shift.

EDIT: Here’s the article by Rob Arthur of Baseball Prospectus: Better Defense Is Costing MLB Thousands of Hits

Not just “at Night” anymore.
