The Brewers face southpaw Caleb Smith, a player they once selected in the Rule 5 draft (and immediately traded to the Cubs for cash). Smith had success with the Marlins prior to being included in the Starling Marte trade last season. Smith’s stats against the current Brewers hitters are solid, although both Avisail Garcia (2-for-5, HR) and Christian Yelich (3-for-6, 2 HR) have had success against him in a limited amount of at bats. Caleb Smith has only gone 5.0 IP once this year, and that was in his last appearance (he’s only started twice previously this season).

Would bet Yelich gets the day off as he was out in Milwaukee last night

Oh no! How dare he!

I certainly don't care. Just making an observation and guessing it is a scheduled off day.

Edit: And I was wrong.

Geoff Jenkins 30th birthday in St. Louis. Made it through an inning I think before getting pulled.

The Dbacks are 5-27 in their last 32 games. That’s an impressive level of incompetency, especially for a team that has at least some talent on paper. And their June schedule looks brutal.

I think I’m to the point I don’t to see hiura around anymore this year. time for a change of scenery trade. You’d have to think this is one of his last games, at least for awhile.

Per Adam McCalvy, here are Dan Bellino’s called strikes against the Brewers today...

And here are the called strikes Corbin Burnes has gotten...

Seems like Bellino isn’t seeing it well at the lower edges of the zone.
