I don't know about this Udder Tuggers thing. Too close to the TLC Tugger for my taste.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

From Thursday's Link Report:

Both Venezuela and the US advance to the "Super Round" which begins Friday, and they face each other Saturday.

Look at the left-hand sidebar here for the scheduled matchups.

On Friday, Venezuela fell to the Dominican Republic, with Hernan Perez driving in all four Venezuela runs with a 7th inning grand slam. Biloxi's Alexander Palma was 1-for-2 in this game (box score).

Also on Friday, Nashville's Logan Forsythe walked twice and scored a run in USA's 10-1 win over Canada (box score).

On Saturday, the USA defeated Venezuela 4-2 to qualify for the Olympics (box score). Forsythe did not play.

For Venezuela, Perez remained scorching hot. The commentary accompanying the HR video here says it all. Perez finished 3-for-4. Biloxi's Luis Castro walked once in four plate appearances, and Alexander Palma was retired as a pinch-hitter to end the game as the US team would celebrate.

Timber Rattlers RHP Harold Chirino struck out two of the four men he retired in another scoreless relief appearance.

How long are they going to let Biloxi play with just 11 hitters? Lujano or Korry Howell seem to be ready for a callup and could certainly help

So Palma and Castro should be rejoining Biloxi. However, Venezuela gets one last chance to qualify in late June at what is called the "Final Qualifying Tournament". Read about that here.

So it is likely that Perez, Palma, and Castro may be excused to play again in three weeks.

TWEET: We are reminded that Payton Henry is crazy-solid behind the plate.

First time in his six Biloxi appearances newcomer LHP Andy Otero was scored upon.

Tristen Lutz 0-for-4 (three K's), as he's now 0-for-his-last-26. Hang in there, Tristen, we'll point out your outfield assist Saturday.

Oddly, the Biscuits don't post any video at all.

Chiefs Score Four in Ninth to Topple Timber Rattlers

By Chris Mehring

Rare off-night at the plate for Korry Howell, but lots of crooked numbers for many others. Unfortunately, that includes the pitching lines.

Pre-Game Media Notes

Mudcats Survive in 5-4 Series Tying Victory

The Wood Ducks totaled nine stolen bases in the 5-4 loss to Carolina

Reminder this year in Low-A: A limit of two pickoff attempts per plate appearance

"It can become monotonous when a pitcher makes throw after throw after throw to first base in a vain attempt to pick off a pesky baserunner.

This rule will limit pitchers to just two “step offs” or pickoff attempts per plate appearance. On the third attempt, if the runner is not thrown out, the move is ruled a balk and any runners are automatically awarded the next base.

Depending on the preliminary results of this change, MLB will consider further reducing the limitation to a single “step off” or pickoff per plate appearance."
