2021-06-05: Diamondbacks (Kelly) at Brewers (Woodruff) [Brewers win, 7-5 -- Yelich and Narvaez back-to-back HRs break the tie in the 8th]

Eye Black
While we went back-to-back I checked our RP stats before the Adames trade and after. We were ranked 20th in xFIP up to 5-21. We're ranked 11th since 5-21. It just doesn't feel that way. At least not to me

The Brewers have won 11 of 14

Not. Good. Enough.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Last 4 games the Brewers have scored 7, 5, 7 and 7 runs. I could get used to that.

Pretty important that they saved Hader last night. I don't think they'd love using him a 3rd consecutive night.

Was thinking of making that point earlier too. All thanks to Narvaez's late HR yesterday. I'm guessing if Narv hadn't saved Hader last night it would've been Boxberger's 9th tonight.

Brewers have hit 14 home runs over those 4 games which according to Adam McCalvy is tied for their second highest HR total over any 4 game stretch in franchise history. The franchise record is 15 HRs over 4 games back in 2002.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

This Pavin Smith fellow sure would look good at 1B in a Brewers uniform.

Brewers won too many games in 2016.

Pavin was picked 7th, Keston went 9th.

They are two of six 2017 first round picks with positive WAR so far.

19 of the 36 first round picks from 2017 have yet to even reach MLB.

Oh I’m not questioning the draft pick. Didn’t even know they were in the same draft. More just dreaming up a trade for him due to our 1B issues.

Totally understood. Just thought Pavin was an interesting example to show how even for as completely lost as Hiura has looked that A) he's still been better so far than 30 of 36 first rounders from 2017 and 2) a couple of the five guys who have been better than him so far we never had a chance at in the first place.

tl dr, even though it's been almost four years since the pick & Keston has a lil over 700 PAs now, it's still really early in the grand scheme of things.
