Has Counsell become more conservative over the years? A couple years ago he would have had Hader up and ready in this situation. Now he just sits on him and will potentially bring in a scrub to protect a lead in the 8th.

Probably an agreement with Hader that he won't be used like he was previously. Disappointing yes but it is the business side of the game.

We also had lots of other good options in those days……you use him for 2 innings and then he’s unavailable for the next 2 days…no easy answers when he’s the only reliable guy out there……although Box has been pretty damn good too

Anyone know how many games we’ve blown from the 7th or 8th inning on?
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

They have lost 4 when leading after 6, 2 when leading after 7, and none when leading after 8.

I don’t know offhand if that is 6 different games or if 1 or 2 of the ones leading after 7 were also ones where they were leading after 6.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Appreciate it. I figured it was low.

Always big to get a win with Anderson starting.

Need a good one from Freddie tomorrow.

Also need a lot of runs because he isn’t going to have a lot of bullpen help behind him.

Maybe someone can “accidentally” cut a power line tomorrow so they can play 2 7 inning games on Saturday and avoid the bullpen altogether.

Sometimes we forget that the other team has a bullpen as well, and these days it's almost always worse than ours.

Even if teams have bullpens that are worse than the Brewers, they also have offenses that are significantly better than the Brewers, and the result is that the Brewers have given up significantly more runs after the 7th inning than they have scored. In the 8th and 9th innings they have been outscored 46-32, with the 8th inning at 33-15 being the real culprit.

With strong starters and a strong closer, I like the Brewers chances in 7 inning games. It’s that bridge from the 6th to the 9th that concerns me.
