Well, we are getting exactly what is expected of Cain this year. Injury, play a few games, injury, play a few games, injury, etc...

Still have another year on that contract, damn.

When he signed with Milwaukee, Cain had played in more than 140 games once in his career. I’m sure the front office knew what they were getting into with Cain and were/are fine with it

For those who thought Hader was used in the 9th the other day because of where the opponent was in their lineup, I think Hader facing the Tigers bottom of the order here pretty much proves he is always getting the 9th inning regardless of the potential win probability benefit of saving him for the 10th in this tie game situation.

Cubs whipping up on Padres I see

We probably should try to win this game today

Does it really matter what the Cubs are doing at this point in the season, though?

I’ll answer. No.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

And then swung at ball four leading to a strikeout.

Shaw finally catches some luck. Biggest part is he won’t be at 2B to start the next inning.

3rd straight extra innings game at AmFam Field.

It would be pretty nice to have Hader on the mound in this situation.

And if we didn’t use Hader in the 9th we could be packing up and going home because we lost.

Sure, that’s the risk you take to give your elite reliever a chance to win the game in this weird extra runner rule situation. Hader in the 10th would be a massive advantage, but if you don’t trust any of your other relievers against the bottom of the Tigers order in the 9th than I guess they aren’t in a position to use it to their advantage.
