In my quest to find the pre-game media notes that MassHaas posts, I uncovered the Mudcat Media Guide. Some very familiar alumni on the cover:

Joe Gray with a homer and double in the first game, grand slam in the second game.

As fun as this 6-game Mudcat demolition of Kannapolis has been, I really hope our studs get promoted to Wisconsin within the next week so they don't spend time playing Kannapolis again. It might seem early, but one can hope.

I went to Cedar Rapids to see the Timber Rattlers this afternoon. They've never done well in games I've attended and today was no exception. I was surprised to see Garrett Mitchell in the lineup, but he DH'd and only lasted for two at bats. I like our shortstop, David Hamilton. He flashed a good glove and has a live bat. Thomas Dillard has the same body type as Dan Vogelbach. This was the second time that I've seen Jarvis pitch. He does well when he commands his offspeed stuff. He can generally throw the secondary stuff in any count, but he lost his control for one inning and gave up some walks and a 93 mph fastball ended up beyond the fence in left center.

If you ever make the trip to Cedar Rapids the ice cream is great. My son recommends the chocolate chip cookie dough while I opted for the mint chip. They fill up your bowl for $3.50.

Sounds Sweep Clippers, Win 12th Straight

Nashville Completes Their Second Consecutive Six-Game Sweep

Should be no complaints from the Nashville ownership group about the product the Brewers are providing them. The Sounds have the franchise’s best record through 23 games (18-5)

Nashville completed their second straight six-game sweep (Gwinnett, Columbus) and has won 12 straight...the winning streak is the longest since the 15-game winning streak that matched a franchise record from July 29-August 14, 2018.

Biloxi Falls In Series Finale 9-1

Hardy Throws Five Innings In Spot Start

***

Making a spot start, RHP Matt Hardy cruised through his first four innings, needing just 37 pitches to make it to the fifth. He allowed his lone run on an RBI single by Devin Hairston in the fifth but tossed a career-high five innings and walked one batter while striking out four. The bullpen could not finish things up, however, aloowing 8 earned runs over the final four innings.

Rattlers Get Slammed in Cedar Rapids

Kernels crack two grand slams to beat Wisconsin 10-2

By Chris Mehring

The Kernels made the most of their six hits netting two grand salamies and a double. This after being no hit and one hit in a doubleheader yesterday. Korry Howell continued his torrid start to the season with two hits including a double. Also, a "welcome back" to first-round pick Garrett Mitchell who went 0 - 2 before being pulled in the 5th inning presumably to ease him back into action after a lengthy layoff due to a knee injury.

Cooper Hummel showing 2019 was no fluke - so far.
