I'm convinced by the deadened ball. I have seen more balls off the bat that past couple weeks that I thought were gone and weren't even close than I can ever remember.

Isn't that common knowledge? I thought they announced they were doing that before the season. I could be wrong.

Edit: Sorry I read your comment wrong, I get it now.

Why do we just assume as a given that the pitcher makes an unproductive out? Houser is a pretty good hitting pitcher.

Yes, thank you. The average NL pitcher OPS is .329.

Okay you win. Should have expected a run there because his two homeruns make his OPS better than an average pitcher.

Other guys don't seem to have too much trouble hitting lately. I mean hell, this Reds team gave up 19 yesterday. Somebody's hitting the ball hard.

Don't @ me, but I've never liked the name Winker.

They definitely announced it, I just didn't know that it would be so noticeable.... Although apparently not as noticeable for the other teams, lol.

The other teams we play don't have the dead ball problems as badly as the Brewers do. Sigh.

I think there's a difference between hitting it hard and hitting it out. I would be curious to see average exit velocities year by year though. Maybe it's down this year?

Why are you getting mad that you displayed his stats to prove that I was wrong that he isn't a good hitting pitcher and I simply pointed out that the average pitcher is worse? He's been hitting well this year.

I'm not saying in a vacuum to expect the pitcher to come through, but cumulatively I expect us to be able to cash in on some scoring opportunities and be able to score runs off terrible pitchers like Jeff Hoffman. And yet here we are again, continuing to piss away chances against a terrible pitcher and down by 3.

I thought his 4 career hits talked more loudly than his irrelevant OPS but wherever you want to find positivity I'm not against it.

I'm just saying, while they've been really bad in those situations, it would have been gravy if the pitcher knocked/sacrificed/walked in a run there. Houser's had a couple good swings on one guy this year, but otherwise I certainly have no reason to expect him to get a run in there. It would have been nice to score more, but I think they scored the exact number of runs as you would expect in that situation.

I have no doubt I'm being partially irrational. I'm just frustrated and tired of seeing us not score and subsequently not win night after night.

I'm not even slightly offended listening to Karros' harping on how bad the Brewers offense is. That's sad in and of itself.

Houser would be decent as a back end starter on a team that could actually score runs. On this team, he's almost a guaranteed L.

Well, Woodruff and Burnes are some of the best pitchers in baseball this year and they almost have a guaranteed loss when they pitch…
