JP does it again. Awesome stuff.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Manny Pineapple> Molina defensively.... there, I said it.

Well Molina is like 55 at this point, so I would hope so.

Manny is almost 34...

He has 55 year old knees

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I had to keep checking the bottom of the screen to confirm that that was really a scoreless inning there. It felt like the Cardinals squeaked at least a run or two across with all that typical Cardinal chicanery.

That’s 4 years and as a catcher..and Molina has 2000+ games compared to less than 400.

Jackie Bradley jr.... another great signing. I’d love him to prove me wrong but he seems to have joined all others in being below replacement level.

He hasn’t been good so far this season, but of all nights tonight probably isn’t the one to get extra down on him. He made a nice play to catch a line drive earlier, and has absolutely scolded three balls tonight.

Those baseballs better start behaving.

As someone who was frustrated at Hader’s usage in the bottom of the 9th in Miami in the 1-1 tie game, I will say I think it’s much more understandable to use him in the 9th at home (when you still have an at bat in the bottom of the 9th), especially with the Cardinals middle of the order up.

That being said, here’s a FanGraphs article that outlines some of the reasoning why high strikeout closers are more valuable than ever in the new extra innings format: Save Your Closer! (Terms and Conditions May Apply)

Thanks for this article. Hader should be the 10th inning guy.

I don’t find that to be a bad AB. Great pitcher on the mound and you want to put it in play with no outs and the guy on second. He did that...just didn’t hit it right.

Cain’s AB was exponentially more pathetic.

I could see it tonight. He had the 4-6 guys I believe.
