As also posted for convenient archive purposes in our season-long Mudcats feature thread:

AUDIO via the "Bosh to the Bigs" Tar Heels Baseball Podcast: 2019 18th round pick out of UNC, corner infielder Ashton McGee spent 2019 with the Maryvale Gold club. He now gets to play very close to home with the Mudcats, one of the talking points in the discussion here.

His interview, recorded this week, begins at the 30:30 minute mark (or with 16:10 remaining in the podcast, depending on what your browser displays).

Shuckers Drop Series With 8-2 Defeat To Birmingham

Lutz & Fry Each Homer for Biloxi

Pre-Game Media Notes

Brice Turang 1-for-18, three walks. After reaching on a forceout in the 3rd, he was picked off and caught stealing second base

RHP Braden Webb, now a reliever, rough evening in this one.

VIDEO by the Barons: Could call this Shucker lowlights, you'll see a lot of Biloxi outfielders chasing down balls in the gaps and an inordinate amount of Barons scampering around the basepaths. You'll see the Turang and Webb references above. There's an interesting stumble out of the box at the 01:20 minute mark, but even that didn't deter the Baron batter.

Rattlers Edge Beloit 4-3

Korry Howell’s late homer breaks 3-3 tie

By Chris Mehring

Caught a good portion of Chris' call during Saturday errands, what a nice return to normalcy in that regard.

Chris and Kyle Lobner wondering (perhaps like many) exactly why the Cubs let go of a seemingly useful RH starter in Zach Mort. Nice job, Brewers pro scouting.

Yes, the Snappers Griffin Conine is the son of Marlin icon Jeff. Miami traded for the Blue Jays' 2nd round pick last September.

Catcher Kekai Rios had to exit after a ball to his well, below region. Nothing to scoff at, as we saw with MLB's Mitch Haniger. Hopefully OK.

There's no harm in pointing out Daniel Vogelbach comps when watching Thomas Dillard. Plus they both go with the full first name thing.

Who else is on board the "let's watch Korey Howell blossom into a star in 2021" train?

LG Castillo won't turn 22 until July - seems as though he really put in the work during the pandemic. Gotta root for those cold-weather (Buffalo, NY) draft picks, especially the high school kids.

Texas Tech's Taylor Floyd off to a "wow" start out of the pen.

***

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "Taylor Floyd entered the game with the bases loaded in a tie game, escaped the jam, and went the rest of the way for the win and Thomas Dillard hit his first homer of the season. They (and Matt Erickson) are Chris Mehring & Kyle Lobner's guests on this edition of the Postgame Podcast."

Zamora and Gray Lead Mudcats in 6-2 Series Clinching Win

Carolina took Saturday’s game 6-2 with, limited capacity, sellout crowd on hand

Pre-Game Media Notes

AUDIO: Via Greg Young, Jr., Manager Joe Ayrault's Postgame Interview

Caught some game audio here as well - kudos to Greg, whether purposely or not, when Woodpecker RF Matthew Barefoot committed a fielding error, he mentioned it was "kicked", perhaps "booted". Either way, nice.

Video tweets via the Mudcats:

Freddy Zamora, basepath demon

RBI base knocks

Put it in the books
