Korry Howell (CF Wisconsin High-A) had two chances for a cycle. His three hits were more than Beloit's two hits:

- Lead-off first pitch homer in the first

- Triple in third

- Single in fifth

- Walk in sixth

- Groundout in 8th

I remember a spring training video where they had mentioned him as a pleasant surprise in camp.

Nashville Back to an Even .500 After Taking Pair from the Mud Hens

Reminding folks that reading the fantastic game summaries all four affiliates put out is mandatory.

After four games, Jamie Westbrook's line is .636/.733/.909 (1.642 OPS). That'll play. The versatile Westbrook only turns 26 next month.

LHP Aaron Ashby pretty much just as advertised - nearly unhittable, but only 36 strikes in 74 pitches.

If that brief MLB call-up was a confidence boost and motivator for Corey Ray, then we're all on board.

RHP Matt Hardy was outstanding in his first Biloxi appearance. If he reaches AAA alongside LHP Blaine Hardy, the sky's the limit on Hardy Boys promotional ideas.

Henry Hits First Home Run for Shuckers in 2021

Newcomer OF Mitch Longo walked in his 0-for-3 Brewers organization debut.

Hot start for Payton Henry, the catcher for all four games thus far. 18-year-old Jhonnys Cabrera yet to see action, and with Manny Pina due back this weekend, you wonder if that will set off a chain reaction in which Cabrera exits his "in emergency" status and gets back to Maryvale for needed reps.

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "The Timber Rattlers beat the Beloit Snappers 9-0 on Friday night behind Korry Howell's bat and Reese Olson's arm. Hear from the heroes and from manager Matt Erickson. Chris Mehring & Kyle Lobner also talk about the contributions from others on the team in the win that moved the team to 3-1 on the season."

You want playing time? Be on the Rattler's roster. A pitcher-heavy group has only three bench players, and with Garrett Mitchell unavailable through the weekend, on Friday night only infielder David Hamilton and backup catcher Kekai Rios were available.

Fangraphs Scouting Notebook:

Jhoan Cruz, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers (Low-A Carolina)

I saw the 20-year-old Cruz during the spring and he already has a plus changeup, one that got Tyler Soderstrom to swing and and miss twice in the same at-bat. He’s a Lilliputian 5-foot-9, a trait that runs through many Brewers minor league pitchers as, I’ll speculate, they’ve been on the lookout for low release heights. He was only 87-90 with the fastball when I saw him and Cruz’s slider in the 78-83 mph range looked below-average to me, but this is a loose, athletic 20-year-old with an out pitch.
