Couple of successful returns. Glad to see Nathan Kirby throw a scoreless inning, but man, for a guy who hasn't pitched in an official game since 2017, Brendan Murphy sure made his presence known tonight. Three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.

Looks like Nashville's game tonight has been postponed due to rain.

Via the Sounds -- "Thursday night’s game between the Nashville Sounds and Toledo Mud Hens was postponed due to rain at Fifth Third Field. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, May 7 with the first beginning at 6:05 p.m. The doubleheader will be seven inning games.

Starting pitchers for both games have yet to be determined."

Walk This Way - Shuckers Draw 16 Walks In 14-6 Rout of Barons

13 Walks Come In 12-Run 6th Inning for Biloxi

By Garrett Greene

Pre-Game Media Notes

Fielding and throwing errors from Brice Turang - won't see that in a game often.

All ten Biloxi hits were singles. In fact, all 22 Shuckers base hits in their first three games have been singles. Their .253 slugging matches the team's .253 batting average.

How can this be with this man playing every day?! He filled our Winter Ball thread this year.

Mudcats Brew Up Third Straight Win 12-2

Gabe Holt led the Carolina offense with three runs and three RBI out of the leadoff spot

As you just read, Mudcats drew ten walks of their own.

More Brendan Murphy

Reminder on the signing of RHP T.J. Shook after the five-round 2020 draft.

Mudcat Tweets: Micah Bello double and RBI single

Gabe Holt RBI knock

Zavier Warren doubled for his first Brewers' system base hit, and LHP Jackson Gillis, drafted in the 13th round in 2019, finally debuted with a scoreless inning. We never did learn why the Vanderbilt product did not pitch for the Crew in his draft year.

Beloit’s Fast Start Too Much for Wisconsin

Snappers 4-0 lead is too big for Rattlers

By Chris Mehring

Rattlers RISP: 0-for-7, 15 K's overall

Affiliated debut for 26-year-old indy ball signee Johnny LaRossa, who, as Baseball Prospectus noted after his signing, was "96-97 mph with life, and an impressive slider".

***

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "Matt Erickson joined Chris Mehring and Kyle Lobner to talk about the game. There's a brief update on Garrett Mitchell's status, talk about a few of the calls, discussion on relievers, and more in this episode."

***

Yes, Chris' calls are back! Be sure to check out the catch and tumble by the Snappers' left fielder.

What is the story with him and why he hasn't pitched in so long?

Wild thangs: Double-A Brewers affiliate draws 13 walks in an inning

“It just got out of control, literally,” longtime Barons radio announcer Curt Bloom said. “And it was contagious.”

It's fun when your team walks the bases loaded and then gets a big hit. 13 walks in an inning somehow sounds like a miserable way to watch your team put up 12 runs. :laughing

What is the story with Brendan Murphy and why he hasn't pitched in so long?

2018 - Missed the season with left biceps tendinitis. Then underwent shoulder surgery in September.

2019 - Missed the season recovering from that shoulder surgery.

Shoulders are not elbows, unfortunately.

Nice to see Kirby back in action. Slider Of Death has a nice ring to it.
