Pre-Game Media Notes

Comeback Effort Falls Short in Sounds' Loss to Mud Hens

Nashville Drops First Two Games of the Season for the First Time Since 2012

Jamie Westbrook now 6-for 8, and yeah, RHP Miguel Sanchez is for sure making his way to Milwaukee at some point.

The affiliate-produced game summaries at all four levels always provide thorough details, it's strongly suggested as long as you are here, do click through and read each, in addition to the box score reviews.

VIDEO Report out of Toledo: You'll see RHP's Thomas Jankins and Luke Barker victimized, unfortunately, but you'll also see Chad Spanberger's home run.

When you are on a big league rehab, guess you bring your big league helmet with you (Jace Peterson).

That Wisconsin team should be fun. Even the pitching staff, which doesn't really have a top prospect, has four of the better "sleeper" starting pitchers in the system (Castaneda, Jarvis, Olson and, even though he wasn't stellar tonight, Bennett) plus the bullpen has a mixture of fairly high draft picks (Walters, Floyd), high strikeout guys (Schanuel) and good stories (Patterson, LaRossa). If only Kelly was healthy to join the mix.

Oh, and if Sanchez does reach Milwaukee, he wouldn't be the first Brewers pitcher to rise from their DSL team to the big leagues for Milwaukee, would he? I didn't think Wily Peralta pitched there and I'm coming up with a blank for other names. There must have been one, but it isn't coming to me.

Big Third Inning Pushes Rattlers by Beloit

Wisconsin moves to 2-0 on the season after 10-4 win

By Chris Mehring

Within above -- There was a slight shadow cast over the victory. Garrett Mitchell, who was 2-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases, and two runs scored, left the game in favor of a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning. He experienced tightness after lunging for first base in the third inning on his second infield hit. The move was called precautionary by manager Matt Erickson in his postgame comments (audio below).

***

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "Manager Matt Erickson provides an update on why Garrett Mitchell left the game for a pinch hitter in the fifth inning and talks about the game with Chris Mehring & Kyle Lobner."

***

Note on the video - Technical issues have not allowed Chris Mehring's radio calls to synch up over the highlights here in the early going, but that should be addressed at some point.

‘Cats Win Second Straight, 5-3 versus Fayetteville

Micah Bello came through with a two-run single in the seventh while helping the Mudcats to another victory

As noted, pro debuts for RHP's Miguel Guerrero and Evan Reifert.

Guerrero, out of the Dominican Republic, signed with the Brewers last September at age 20. As a slightly older international signee, he not only avoids Dominican Summer League action here, but also bypasses Maryvale.
