It’s a good time for Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain to be back in the lineup. Both have hit well against Aaron Nola in the past.

Lorenzo Cain vs. Nola: 3-for-3 with two doubles and two walks

Christian Yelich vs. Nola: 8-for-20 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, and a walk

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Nola is certainly underrated. He’s about as tough as they come in the NL which is why it stings to let Velasquez wiggle off the hook all night long as he’s about as mediocre as they come in the NL.

I feel like the excuse to leave Cain/Yelich out for so long is so when they're ready to play, they're ready to come back 100%. Kind of demoralizing that a day after bringing them back and sending Tyrone Taylor down, we have Pablo Reyes starting in LF.

At least they finally bumped Urias up to the 2-spot. If Wong wasn't doing so well, I'd argue that Urias would be a pretty ideal leadoff hitter.

The 1982 Milwaukee Brewers had all position players play over 130 games each. Five of those eight players played 155+ games. Today's baseball player is SOFT and you cannot change my mind.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

If you think MLB is bad then I hope you aren't an NBA fan. Star players rarely ever play any games back-to-back.

Can never understand how these guys grow up playing 6-8 AAU games a weekend, but once they get to the professional level asking them to play games two consecutive days is criminal.

Let's not forget the 1982 Brewers were probably hitting the watering hole after most of their games. Possibly before the games as well.

It's not worth comparing, that was a different era and the modern game is more physically demanding than it was back then. I do think the shortened 2020 season also has something to do with the abundance of injuries this year.

Well... both sitting while Pablo Reyes starts in left. :indifferent

Looks like the Brewers are effectively conceding to Nola. Rest tonight and hope to do better with Peralta and Woodruff pitching.

Nola is on my fantasy team so I should be getting a boost there.

I just watched Bryce Harper take a fastball to the face and walk off the field. We just watched Robertson take a fastball to the temple and stay in the game.

I would be willing to bet the majority of these guys would play 130+ if they could... Stearns/Counsell/medical staff are the ones holding guys out of lineups.

You don't think Yelich would be playing today if it were his choice?

I'm having a hard time rationalizing the decision to rest them one day after being reinstated too but I don't think it's the players that want to take the day off, it's the manager/front office. I wouldn't call the players soft I think the guys in charge are just being what almost seems unreasonably cautious with them. I'm thinking they must have some research to back up their reasoning I'm just having a difficult time seeing it.

I was fine with optioning Taylor, but if the plan was to sit Cain/Yelich on the same day they really should have sent a pitcher down or DFA Zimmerman instead of Taylor.

Baseball seems to be adopting more of the “load management” model followed by the NBA. It’s really a slap in the face to the paying fans if you buy a ticket for a game in which several of the team’s best healthy players are given a day off.

Today's baseball player also would have hit .500/.750/.900/1.650 against 1982 pitching.
