I'd like to see McKinney take over as the regular 1B against righties once Cain and Yelich are back with Hiura being optioned. But I have no idea who can play there when facing a lefty.

I'm getting tired of MLB.com and their fawning over the coast teams. Here's the headline on the main page:

Beaty leads LA Laugher

I guess losing a series 3-1 to a team that has 50% of the roster (hyperbole) on the IL including their best hitter and defender and TOR starter is funny for the Dodgers. If that's the cas then I want to laugh all the way to the playoffs because I'm fine with losing the 1 game by 100 runs as long as we win 75% of the games. The Brewers will have a 10-2 record against >500 teams after today. Let's see if there's any articles about their performance on mlb.com or just another article about how well the Yankees are doing if you ignore their first 2 weeks. Or those great Padres. Anyone see an article about Burnes streak on mlb.com. I didn't because it's clear mlb.com is headed toward ESPN v2 then an impartial site that focuses on good baseball. [/rant]

So long, run differential. It was nice knowing you

Just checked the score to confirm I wasn’t missing anything.

Do you think this is the first time in history that a team has had the best record in the league this far into the season with a negative run differential?

If the current score holds as final, and my addition is correct, the Brewers will have won 9 of their last 13 games while being outscored 60-44.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The weird thing is, it sure seems like a strategy. I mean, you're never planning to get blown out, but the whole roster is constructed around the idea that you can win a lot of games with a not very good offense. I'm convinced there are very few (if any) teams in MLB for whom run differential will matter less than it does for the Brewers. They're just not going to win many games giving up 5+ runs, and the gap between the "A" bullpen and everyone else is wide, so when you start to get down 3-0, 4-0, it really could turn ugly fast.

are they just waiting for guys to get healthy for hiura to be sent down? You can’t let him keep doing this. He’s getting into dangerous territory mentally, I’d assume.

Thanks, CC. You would think that Zimmermann would at least know where 1st base was.

And Dave xis? Nice post. On Quick Pitch, they led with 2 crappy teams playing one another. One of them was the Yankees, so that's "what ALL fans want to see first!!"

When the Yanks were in last place, their highlight package was buried in the 20th minute or so.

With all the Brewers' injuries, knocking off the champs? Nah. Aaron Judge coverage!!

Don't really know why you take Jordan out here. He's at 56 pitches, not 86. I'm sure he'd like to finish, and it's not like you're saving him for anything.

Unless they just want to get a look at Weigel.

Rock's rationale for wasting time with the review summarized as "guy needs to inflate his stats". Really?

It's obnoxious in a 16-1 game but I get it. If I were a young player like Lux I'd want the hit too.

Hey Geno! I think of the movie Up! every time there's a Judge/Yankees mention. It's like someone yelled "squirrel" to them and like a perfect Pavlovian response they are all off chasing the story. Mike Trout will likely end up being the greatest player to play the game and he can't get any screen time from Aaron Friggin Judge or the Yankees 3rd string bat boy.

I'm getting tired of MLB.com and their fawning over the coast teams. Here's the headline on the main page:

The #1 highlight for all of major league baseball on MLB.com this morning after last night's incredible rollercoaster win for the Brewers was.... Betts hitting a normal HR in the first inning.

Not saying you have to put a Brewers highlight first, but yes there is zero question that they go hard to tailor their coverage for the Dodgers bandwagon viewership.

Most of their viewers are on the coasts, the vast majority are not Brewers fans. Easy to see why they do what they do.

There is no chance any team has gotten more offensive production out of their catchers this year than the Brewers.

EDIT: Ok, so apparently the Diamondbacks catchers have been incredible as well.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
