My first response was "who?" I watched a bunch of ST and still don't remember him. Seems like a pretty meh selection. Experience, but not really anything for upside. Throws three pitches - FB, Cutter, Slider - all at the same speed (88-90).

I wonder how much of a BP this will be? I wouldn't think he would go too long nor multiple times through the lineup. 3 IP maybe?

Counsell claimed Godley has been stretched out. While a bullpen day would seemingly increase their chances for success today, I wonder if they are going to ask Godley to stick around for 85+ pitches regardless of the score in order to preserve the bullpen for the upcoming Dodgers series and the fact they still have 12 straight days with games ahead. I hope he pitches great, but I’m not ruling out that they’re using him as a proverbial sacrificial lamb to bridge the pitching gap for a day.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Yeah this kinda seems like an innings eater kinda day unless we score a lot early.

We seem set up well for the Dodgers series though with Peralta/Woodruff/Burnes/Houser. Hopefully we can at least split that series.

For today, best case is we win another series, worst case is hopefully that at least our bullpen is rested for the big weekend. But a win today counts as much as a win against the Dodgers, so I hope they don't roll over too easily.

I remember when I would hace loved to get Godley from the Diamondbacks. Now, we have him starting, and it's like I just hope he keeps it close.

Here's to some what? 2018 magic?

In 2018 he lead the league in:

Wild Pitches - 17 (2nd place was 11)

Hit By Pitches - 12 (Tied technically with two others)

So you would want 2017 magic.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Weigel and Godley combine for 6 IP and swap out Weigel for someone else for the next series.

It's possible he has been impressing at the Alt site......but it seems more likely that this is an indictment of just how bad Lauer and I guess Zimmerman have looked.

Lauer would not have required a roster move and Zimmerman has been with the team all of spring training.

You have to wonder if Zimmerman might not just retire now?........I'm sure he only agreed to stay because he thought he would be an option when they needed another starter.

Assuming Wong is good to go, I'd like to see

1 (L) Wong 4

2 ® Taylor 8

3 (L) Narvaez 2

4 (L) Shaw 5

5 ® Urias 6

6 (L) McKinney 7

7 ® Garcia 9

8 (L) Vogelbach 3

I’m fairly certain I’m the only one getting a kick out of this, but Tyrone Taylor gets his 4th start of the season and has now been in the bating order at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in those four starts. I’ll be rooting for him to bat cleanup in his next start.

Hiura gets a triple, then benched.

He needs to be benched, but why always after a game where he does "something" productive?

That "triple" was simply the result of the head-scratching defensive positioning of Garrett Cooper in RF. Glad Keston got something productive on the board, but that should've been a routine out. Makes sense to give Vogelbach the start against a tough RHP like Alcantara.

Marlins placed Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the 10-day IL, and recalled old friend Isan Diaz.

The Chisholm IL stint means he’ll miss at least some of the Brewers at Marlins series coming up May 7-9.

The saddest part about this line up is it is arguably the best line up with the players we have this year and how they have all performed...minus Yelich not being in. If he was healthy you would probably just shift Taylor to CF, McKinney to RF, and Yelich to LF. Hiura sucks, Arcia finally dumped, Cain injured/not playing well, Garcia sucks.

While I like me a feel good story in McKinney/Taylor, I hope some of the vets start looking better.

Ha. Got it. Yes. 2017 would be nice.

Agreed

You left JBJ off the list. His play has been flat. At least he got on base with a few HBP last night

Yep, same here. He was tracking to be one of the better young arms in the game; K's and groundballs aplenty. Something hasn't worked out for him since, but yes, here's to him just getting through 5, with a couple runs.
