In hindsight, I guess Hiura was the guy we should have been looking to trade instead of Grisham. Never thought he would turn out this bad.

Holy smokes, we agree on something.

I was pretty much with you on Knebel despite the current circumstances, so that's two.

He hasn't "turned out" anything just yet...Too early to tell.

He needs to be straightened out for sure.

I refuse to believe he is a lost cause.

Wonder if we could NBA style trade Garcia...send him to Colorado or Det and attach a minor leaguer with him in exchange for a bag of balls. Those teams get another flyer on a prospect and if Avi gets on track they can flip him again at the deadline. We atleast get out of his contract the remainder of the year

Would getting out of the contract the rest of this year add anything THIS year though?

Does that mean we have 10 million to play with in a trade later? Highly doubtful.

Maybe some more flexibility to add at the deadline or bring back Braun??

Mostly just wishful thinking on my end. I would rather see Taylor get consistent playing time but not sure that will happen with Avi still around. Don't see the Brewers just DFA'ing him though

Fun fact: Trevor Rogers was taken four picks after Keston Hiura in the 2017 draft.

Imagine Woodruff, Burnes, Peralta and Rogers as or top 4 in the rotation.

And had they taken Shane Bieber instead of Braden Webb...

I'm not totally throwing in the towel either, but what is going on with him is far from an easy fix.

I hope he figures it out. But he'd be one of many on a long list of top hitting prospects who started out strong and then flamed out quickly when the league figured them out. He looks so outclassed at this level.

You aren’t fooling anyone. Avi hasn’t been a good baseball player for the majority of his career.

I agree with you, but Garcia wasn't terrible before coming to Milwaukee. His career OPS was .750. Big, fast, played a lot of games because he broke in at a young ago, so maybe some unrealized potential. It just hasn't worked out so far. The good news is they need him right now, and when they get healthy he can split time, and they'll move on.

The one thing giving me hope is that two years ago Burnes was lost too and the Brewers were able to get him right. Not apples to apples but something to be optimistic about?? Maybe?

I think that is exactly it. He came up in 2019 and tore the cover off the ball until there was video of him and pitchers adjusted to attack his timing. So far he hasn't been able to make a counter adjustment, there's still time but he's simply not a big league player right now.

What a stinker. Just an ugly game.

Burnes still hasn't walked a guy, so there's that.

My “positive” takeaway tonight is that Tyrone Taylor continues to look like he belongs and is getting a chance in CF tonight after only getting 35 innings there last season (while Garcia played 350 innings in CF last year).

It’s also sort of amazing that this is only Taylor’s second start of the season, but he’s batted 3rd and now 2nd in those two games.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I mean it isn't trying to fool a team like Colorado, that discussion would be: "hey you aren't trying to compete this year anyways, take this guy and we'll attach a lottery ticket or two with him. You have nothing to lose and maybe if he starts hitting in the CO air, you can flip him again at the deadline for another couple prospects."

Time to suck it up and play Taylor.

As of now, Garcia and JBJ don't deserve to be playing over him.

Hell, neither does McKinney.

Let's see what we have in Taylor with some extended playing time, not a spot start every 2 weeks and a couple pinch hitting appearances.

Let's not turn him into the next Grisham.
