That has got to be the most difficult position for a pitcher to come in, especially since he hasn't pitched in a while, but you still have to execute a little!

I am not even a little mad about this game. It was bound to happen sooner or later. What I am upset about is having a guy like Lindblom, who is quite obviously a failed signing, continue to pitch meaningful innings. He is responsible for the game getting out of hand. 3 hits and a walk is pure garbage coming out of the bullpen.

So which position player is going to get to pitch today?

If the Brewers' bats do their typical vanishing act against Hendricks over the next couple of innings, I'm really hoping multiple position players toe the bump so they don't burn their pen out....they don't have an off day on the calendar for the next 2.5 weeks.

Please tell me Narvaez isn't hurt. Otherwise, I don't understand why you'd sit our hottest hitter after an off day who hits lefty going against the Cubs ace right hander.

Catchers are obviously a little different than regular position players in that they can’t typically play everyday. In this instance Hendricks is pretty even against RHH and LHH, whereas both Alzolay and Arrieta are quite a bit tougher on RHH than LHH. So if Narvaez is going to sit one day in this series I would’ve picked today.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Lauer, Bickford, Sobotka and Weigel all up at some point over the next couple weeks. Maybe even Zimmermann too. Gonna see a lot of different arms going back and forth.

Hendricks was awful his last start - there is still hope.

Hendricks vs the Brewers and Hendricks vs everyone else is like two different pitchers.

The good thing about today is that a 15-0 loss only counts as one loss.

ETA: Let me update that to 20-0.

ETA: Make it 30-0.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

If he's on the roster, this is a game you have to use him for. Your starter only gets 1 out and leaves, you're going to need extended innings from somebody, you can't just burn out your whole bullpen on the first game of the series.

He's just not an MLB quality pitcher and should be replaced on the roster, that's the heart of the problem.
