When I tore a calf muscle playing basketball about 45 years ago, at first I thought it was a cramp. Then I realized I couldn’t work it out like a cramp.

I won’t be surprised if Urias is out for awhile. Even a strained calf can be as dangerous as a mild hamstring pull.

Man, I have torn both calf muscles. Both times I thought someone had drilled me in the leg with a fastball. Way worse than a cramp for me.

Lamet’s apparently coming out of the game. He’d only thrown 29 pitches. He reportedly threw 70+ pitches in his last simulated start, so I’d assume something went wrong.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

I don’t think they’d have thrown Stammen for 21 pitches in a blowout last night if they were planning on using him by the 3rd inning today.

This is one of those gift situations you just gotta take advantage of.

Networks just love the sac bunt. I don't think I've seen a successful sac bunt in MLB history that wasn't followed by a camera panning to the dugout to see said player getting high fives from everyone in the vicinity.

They're jonesing for baseball to be played "the right way" rather than 3TO. :rolleyes

Yeah, I thought no one could ever touch Cubs fans in misjudging flyballs, but Padre fans are definitely giving them a run for their money.

I popped into the forum to discuss this. I wasn’t able to watch the last two games and I have the game on today in the background. I keep hearing cheering as if the Padres hit a bomb and every time I look up it’s a routine play... even routine grounders! I thought to myself that this is even worse than Cubs fans.

That inning could’ve certainly been a lot worse.

Watching Woodruff and Burnes starts preceding Houser is a pretty stark contrast.

No doubt. Houser is just...limited in his ability. I'm still not a big believer over the long run that he's going to be a 3 or 4. There's a ton of red flags on his peripherals right now. I think he'll be a serviceable 5 at best and I still much prefer him in the pen.

However, the drop-off in the starter abilities after Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta (and honestly, there's a big difference between these three) is pretty drastic and I don't think we have any better options right now. I wouldn't want to follow Woodruff and Burnes, either.
