Tyrone Taylor

He's had a very, very, very good, stellar, awesome two weeks (467/515/833!/1.348). He's raised his OPS over 100 points in that time. I love the kid but I want to see how he's doing at the end of August before declaring him a potential star.

Taylor has been stellar the last two weeks, and he should be getting regular playing time at least until Yelich is able to play again.

But, before I make long term plans around him I would want to make sure he isn’t just in a Hurricane Hazle hot streak. Anyone who knows the history of the 1957 Braves knows what I’m talking about.

Like I said when Cain was reactivated, I never concern myself too much with how some of these guys are going to get playing time. Something always seems to come up and, if it doesn’t, you just have a good bench and more flexibility for getting players time off. It makes those notorious “getaway day lineups” a little more potent.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I'd be in favor of keeping Garcia next year (although not sure they can afford it) and trying to fit Taylor in as much as they can. If possible, try to move Bradley or Cain or go with 5 OF. I'm concerned that Bradley and Cain's offense is going to continue to be below average. Cain is getting injured a lot. Yelich also not performing to expectations and may be developing injury issues. Taylor is also a small sample in MLB. If Brewers lose Garcia they'd still need to add another OF to cover themselves or you'll see Jace (or similar players in the OF). With the likely return of the DH next year, Brewers need the offensive depth.

At the very least, it's good to have another option going into next year, with all the OF uncertainties. Will Garcia and Bradley be gone? Will Cain be healthy?

Oh, absolutely. Yelich, Cain, and Taylor are there. Probably not Garcia. Have to think Bradley will opt in given his play this year or maybe he simply doesn’t like Milwaukee and wants our. I think Peterson should be thought of for OF coverage in LF/RF too.
