Not that anyone needs to hear this, but baseball is weird.

 

If this were a basketball game, the Padres would be up 12, haha. Feels like we're gonna have steal one, honestly (but team's steal games all the time).

 

Just ask the Astros.

Luis Urias now has his wRC+ up to 107 this season (7% above league average). That’s with a BABIP that’s currently just .200, which is likely to improve quite a bit moving forward.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

He is so bad that I'm not sure he is going to be in the league in 2 years. I'm very patient usually, but he looks like he can't play the game.

 

He's looks lost up there. No confidence. Maybe a change would help him. Just not a change in in the fielding position

Yeah it's really depressing. This was our best homegrown hitting prospect since....Braun, really, and it looks like he might totally flame out.

 

Obviously it's not over yet and maybe he makes an adjustment and gets it all figured out but he is beyond overmatched at the moment. After he came up in '19 his bat looked so good. I thought the sky was the limit and now this.

Because he looks like a completely different player than he did in 2019. Now he goes to the plate trying to hit an 8-run homer every time up. He's got a severe uppercut swing, and chases everything. I'm not sure what is going on in his head, or who he's been listening to, but it's wrong.

Luis Urias now has his wRC+ up to 107 this season (7% above league average). That’s with a BABIP that’s currently just .200, which is likely to improve quite a bit moving forward.

 

He has good ABs. Even when he makes outs, it's clear to me (beyond just fatigue) why he was the choice over Arcia.

I wish it was just a matter of him chasing. That would be more correctable. He swings through more fat strikes than anyone in recent memory, too.

 

Also true. He's behind 92 mph meatballs. I don't know if I've ever seen a case of a guy who came up looking so natural, only to completely and inexplicably lose it.

I mean he's better than Arcia but I don't think there was any real choice to be made. We gave up a lot to get Urias, we knew what we had in Arcia (not much) and had to commit to Urias and at least see what we got.

It’s the double toe tap. With all the video on hitters they other teams know they how to pitch him and get his timing off.
