Statcast had that Reynolds homer at 436 feet with an expected batting average of .970, which begs the question. In what stadium is that an out because I can't think of a single place where that ball turns into an out.

I wondered the same thing on a Brewer HR earlier this season. Maybe it was Hiura's or Shaw just a bomb and statcast had it .990xba. Do they account for a dome stadium where it bounces off a roof beam?

I mean maybe my understanding of the word ‘vintage’, but I think this was exactly like vintage Freddy. Historically he is pretty inefficient and doesn’t go deep into games. Difference is vintage Freddy usually gave up 3-4 runs while doing it...2021 Freddy put up zeros.

I’m totally okay with 5 inning Freddy if it isn’t overly common and he puts up zeros. Probably lucky he was facing the Pirates today though....a better team probably doesn’t put up 5 innings of zeros.

Unless being used sarcastically, I think of “vintage” in connection with something of high quality that has been around for some time.

“Vintage Freddy” may actually be an oxymoron. Probably just better to say that today was not Freddy at his best.

I wonder if Counsell would use Hader in the 9th and leave him in for the 10th if it’s still tied and he didn’t have to work too hard in the 9th.

I feel like on gameday that is the 3rd straight groundball with a runner on 1st and didn't get the lead base runner out at second only taking out at 1st. Has there been no play at 2nd?

No real play....had to go down to the ground to get it and took the sure out

Nope. Hes had 2 other opportunities to do this with extra innings. Definitely feeling a Brewers walkoff in the 10th with the baserunner on 2nd.

One was a classic example of Hiura being afraid to make a throw that most 2B woukd make easily, and he opted to make the short throw to first.

The one in the 8th was hit pretty much right on the bag and Vogelbach prudently decided to take the sure out instead of risking hitting the runner in the back.

I haven’t seen the whole game so I don’t know what the third one is.

They need to force Crick to throw some pitches so they don’t have to face him again in the 9th.

We’ll have to hope for that another day.

Hader looks so, so good. If the Brewers had a couple more reliable bullpen arms Hader would absolutely be the perfect pitcher for extra innings. His high K% skill set is so incredibly valuable with the extra runner situation.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Ah the 3rd I was thinking Mckinney ground out but they forced out Hiura at 2nd. Maybe I was thinking 3 groundouts and not 1 double play out of them. Lets hope our last out is a speedster or followed the walkoff hit!

Only 13 pitches from Hader that inning too. Coming off few days rest...if Counsell were ever going to use him more than 1 this would be perfect opp.

Nope, Narvey pinch hitting for him.

Too bad Hader was scheduled to hit. Maybe CC let's him pitch another inning if he wasn't supposed to hit.
