Hope Williams isn’t a one year wonder. We have been spoiled with Hader year after year we forget the finicky nature of bullpen arms. Williams was so fun to watch last year, would suck if that 1-2 punch isn’t there this year.

Something is wrong with Williams.

Agreed. I also don’t think they would’ve so quickly and publicly pulled him from high leverage situations unless they realized he wasn’t right.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Imagine having spent roughly the same amount of money as they spent on Bradley on picking up Brad Hand off waivers and tendering Knebel.

I like that roster a lot better. And I think that's the best bullpen in baseball.

Hard to predict the Wahl and Topa injuries, followed by Williams seeming to be wrong on the mound. But that path not taken during the off-season sure looks good in hindsight right now.

I think many of us were asking for even more bullpen help this off season. We have seen it too many times. You can't have enough pen arms especially ones with some experience. What's Jeffress up to?? Miscalculation for sure it appears.

Devin isn’t right. He’s showing flashes but he’s not there. His confidence is definitely not there. I said this in my season predictions but I’m just worried about his injury. Not pitching much coming in to the season I just smell a shutdown at some point. Hoping it’s something he gets by and is himself down the stretch!

Wahl has been hurt a bunch and he and Topa have about 20 career innings so I would hope expectations were kept in line for them. And Williams coming off an injury should have been a concern as well.

The fact that we are even talking about guys with the track records of Wahl and Topa as alternatives to Hand and Knebel is how drastically I think we seem to have overrated our own pen options heading into this season. It reminds me of the Ray Black hype when we acquired him.

Topa and Wahl, even when 100% healthy, are great guys to take a shot on as your 6th or 7th guy in the pen and maybe have some upside and see what you get.

If your plan for the pen is to count on these guys to be core pieces, you are probably going to end up disappointed.

I hoped for hoped about Ray Black. His arm is incredible. Sometimes guys just need a different voice.

Maybe he didn't.
