Alzolay better be getting the same microscopic zone today.

Umpires like this piss me off. These pitches are right on the corners and bottom edge of the zone which is exactly where you want them. They're not just off the edge. They're strikes. (AB to Joc)

Pitchers should be rewarded for these pitches, not punished.

These umpires are their own worst enemy. Everyone is talking about automating the zone and the guys making the best case for it are the umpires themselves.

Contreras has a career walk rate of nearly 10%. He's not up there "to hack" as Brian says. Is it really too much to ask that announcers do the bare minimum of research when it comes to stats?

This is a classic Peralta start. He can be really good, but he's never going to be a consistent 7 inning or even 6 inning pitcher.

How many of those actually exist these days anyway?

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Not many, but Woodruff and Burnes are probably closer to being ones.I'm not saying it's a bad thing. If he can give us 5 great innings every outing that's valuable.

Exactly. You could do worse as a fifth starter.

Peralta is 24 years old. I don't think we know what he's gonna be yet.
