I liked CC comments about the Perdomo blunder:

"Hey, you try keeping up with merry go round of crap circling through the end of our bullpen!"

Did he actually say that?

It wasn't enough to just leave Perdomo off the lineup card? He had to turn around and give him and Yardley the finger too?

No, he said, “look it was our mistake.” He said it’s an automated system and “for whatever reason he wasn’t on the lineup given the umpires” and that it’s the Brewers fault for not double checking the lineup in the system.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Weird explanation on the lineup card issue. Apparently, they use an “automated system” to handle lineup cards that are supposed to sync to all relevant personnel moves. The auto-populated card went to the umps, while the preferred lineup was on their own hand-created card that they used in the dugout. Obviously, that’s a bit of an oversight. I think one of the coaches is about to be given the job of double checking the computer-generated card from now on. Don’t trust the machines!

Got to love Zack

I absolutely love it when posters share twitter(dont partake) then scrolling below the post and seeing other "tweets"

Ron Acuna beat out a routine grounder to SS. And another He raced home on a pop-up that was caught about 20feet in to centerfield. Granted a double pump on SS throw to first and 2b caught popup running away from the plate, that still is game-changing stuff that baseball needs in the game. I just became a fan of a non-Brewer player that also non WI native.

Ok, that definitely makes me feel better. But yeah, Counsell needs to double check the lineup card. That's little league stuff.

That was another fun one to watch. Freddy looked really good tonight. That’s exciting! Can’t believe the roster card mistake but is what it is. I too said, can’t blame Rasmussen for not being his best. If Hader can keep that off speed going, look out. That was nasty. Keep the runs coming!

Baez, Rizzo or Bryant, which Cub will we be signing this offseason?

Bumping this. Rizzo is the man. Yelich bats second with Rizzo 4th and a quality right handed bat between them. Alternate Wong and Cain at the top. Hiura becomes the DH and can hit third if he figures it out, which would be ideal. Otherwise we can find a quality right handed bat for the third outfield spot, 2B, or 3B. Trades are always a possibility too.

Rizzo is a 3X GG winner too, which would be appealing to Stearns. He was in on Rendon who is a quality defender at third. I could see us making a play for Rizzo to pair with a roster of gold glovers in Cain, Yelich, possibly Bradley, and Wong as it is. It’s crazy to think how elite this defense could be if he was added to the roster.

Baez would be my pick. Capable at short, second, and third, also has played first, and in the corner OF spots. His bat has power, he's got some speed, and he has a Gold Glove from 2020. He also is going into his age 29 season.

Rizzo is easily behind Bryant and Baez for me and I like Rizzo. But he's a few years older, plays the least valuable position and is about equal to Bryant with the bat, I think Bryant will be better going forward. That said, Bryant probably will command the bigger contract. Baez's OBP is awful but for the defense he provides at a premium position his offense is more than adequate and he's 3.5 years younger than Rizzo.

It surprised me that Rizzo hasn't been an All Star since 2016. Aguilar made it in 2018. Which should tell us all we need to know about spending big money for a 32 going on 33 year old, non-MVP type 1st baseman. I think they're better off hoping Hiura figures it out and gets more comfortable at 1B over time or looking for bargains in the Thames/Aguilar mold. Yelich's future might be at 1B as well.

I feel like this is not the first lineup card mistake by Counsell. Can't think of what in particular I'm referring to though.

About five years ago Braun and Lucroy were switched and they batted out of order.

Good memory. I found it now that you mentioned it.

Not a great look for Counsell to make two lineup card mistakes in 5 years.

[sarcasm]We better trade Counsell away. How will he ever survive this terrible mistake?[/sarcasm]
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

They won both games. Maybe if CC makes another lineup card mistake again in 2026 (if he even lasts that long) it will finally cost them.
