I’m sure there are plenty of instances where a player has had a good game and plays the next day.

Of course, as it should be.

As frustrating as the offense has been at times in the first ten days of the season, I feel a lot better about the Brewers overall season outlook as a team than I would if I was a Cubs or Cardinals fan right now.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

The day after Hiura starts to come around, our manager decides to give him a day of rest.

Unless there is an injury we don't know about, this move is completely asinine.

I know there are a lot of CC supporters here that think he does no wrong and make excuses for him, but this is just dumb.

Let the guy continue to boost his confidence.

This is not unlike CC either, he has done this to many players over the years.

I just don't understand his reasoning, especially since we just had an off day on Friday.

Asinine.

Only read up to this point, but this holds true. Anytime a player breaks out of a slump or has a great game, he finds himself on the bench the next day. Asinine might be an understatement. Success offensively isn’t rewarded on the Brewers and it’s mind boggling.

Would you have started him at 2nd? I think CC liked Vogelbach's #s vs Ponce

I would have had Hiura at first. Let the man play that is starting to see the baseball well and smoking everything.

I missed the 5th. Did something happen to Shaw or did Counsell just PH him with Robertson? If the latter, seems silly. Up 6 (but still had 15 outs to get at the time) and Shaw has been a stud on defense at 3B. Also swinging a good stick.

So then why call it asinine and dumb? Or how Rollie Time says “Success offensively isn’t rewarded on the Brewers and it’s mind boggling.” when Counsell doesn’t just bench guys all the time after they’ve had a good game?

Shaw hit a foul ball off his right ankle and was limping a bit at the end of the inning.

Shaw hit a ball off of his ankle so it probably swelled up on him.

Well, this is not shaping up to be a good inning.

Because it is asinine and dumb to bench Hiura after the day he had yesterday, and CC has done it a LOT over the years. This is not an isolated inceident.

Well someone like Yelich sure. It’s not every single time, but it happens much more frequently than it should. I recall making a post last year about it. There was I believe 3 instances last season where a player hit two home runs in a game and was benched the next game with Pina being one I remember specifically. Riding a 6 game hit streak and hit two home runs before being benched. I provided other examples back then, but can’t recall of exact times other than that.

Didn't we just trade for two MLB bullpen arms? We might want to make a roster adjustment. Yardley is outta whack to start the season.

Great defense there. Very nice! Game changing play.
