2021-04-11: Brewers (Anderson) at Cardinals (Ponce de Leon) [Brewers win, 9-3 -- Offense scores 7 runs in the first two innings]

Eye Black

I'm probably in denial. 2nd inning is a little early for that kind of move.

We would also need to check with the Cardinals as to whether that would break an unwritten rule, and if so what inning and how big a lead would make it appropriate.

Back soreness for Yelich. He does have a history of back issues flaring up on him.

Sort of back to your earlier point, I wonder whether it was something that just flared up during this game, or if he has been playing through some discomfort recently and they’re taking the opportunity to try to get him rest for the remainder of the day because of the big early lead.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Looks like we are going to need a long man today and Suter and Lindblom pitched yesterday.

Good day for Rasmussen to get work. Assuming CC pulls Anderson before the total blow up and avoids putting him in a 7-5 game.

I mean if we are guessing I’m sure it’s an oblique.

Edit: Back soreness.

Wonder if that's messing with his power stroke. He'd been racking up singles and multi-hit games...

I've had back trouble all my life and, with the caveat that not everyone experiences pain in the same way, if Yelich's back pain was serious enough to limit his HR power he wouldn't be swinging the bat at all. He's hit the ball plenty hard enough leading up to today, I'd say it's low percentage that's been a factor in his slugging potential so far.

Willson Contreras gets HBP again and guess what He's upset again.

I'm not wishing injury on the guy, but watcing him getting plunked on a regular basis is pure entertainment.

It is good theater. He simultaneously plays the victim and the villain very well.

Choose one. Contreras or Molina.

Ugh.

If you make me, I'd choose Molina, but that's a tight race.

I had been thinking of something like that, it could be a thing where it's been mild and it was a good time to take advantage of the lead to get a little rest. It could just as easily have happened as he was running the bases or swinging the bat.

JBJ is also the better defender and with this lead that's a plus as well (assuming it's mild).

So after 9 games, one of which is currently being played, Garcia has already tied his home run total from last season. (60 games)

The day after Hiura starts to come around, our manager decides to give him a day of rest.

Unless there is an injury we don't know about, this move is completely asinine.

I know there are a lot of CC supporters here that think he does no wrong and make excuses for him, but this is just dumb.

Let the guy continue to boost his confidence.

This is not unlike CC either, he has done this to many players over the years.

I just don't understand his reasoning, especially since we just had an off day on Friday.

Asinine.

Only read up to this point, but this holds true. Anytime a player breaks out of a slump or has a great game, he finds himself on the bench the next day. Asinine might be an understatement. Success offensively isn’t rewarded on the Brewers and it’s mind boggling.

Would you have started him at 2nd? I think CC liked Vogelbach's #s vs Ponce

Nope, I'd have started him at 1B, where he will continue to play while he hits.

Vogelbach is suited for pinch hitting, not starting over our future at the position. The guy that Vogelbach has such "GREAT" numbers against is already out of the game.

It was a dumb move.

I’m sure there are plenty of instances where a player has had a good game and plays the next day.

Well the pitching better keep this one under control with Shaw and Yelich out.
