Lindblom at 88-89 MPH on his FB. I don't recall him being so slow last year...

He averaged 90.1 last year.

Yeah, just looked that one up. Well, I was hoping it was because something was wrong. Just his normal, unfortunately...

Does Lindblom have a three year contract? If so, why? Guy wouldn’t have taken a one year deal to return to the majors and see what he has (and get paid)? Swing and a miss by Stearns.

He was the Korean Cy Young; he likely had multiple multi-year offers. But yeah, there’s a reason he was in Korea in the first place.... he can’t get major league hitters out consistently

Yes he can. A scorcher right at Shaw and another ball caught up against the wall, no problem getting mlb hitters out.

I’ll hold on anything with Lindblom. The guy is used to getting the ball every 5–6 days and now he’s randomly tossed in ball games. I’ll give him a bit to adjust.

Agree with this. Probably needs to focus on three pitches as a reliever, see which is working on a given day.

There’s no need to use kid gloves on a 34 year old pitcher, with a career FIP of 4.20 and WHIP of 1.36. He’s text book mediocre, if it honestly upsets his psyche pitching out of the pen, then they should just cut their losses now and release him. Jordan Zimmermann’s stuff can’t be worse

3M a year I believe. Thats fairly low even for a RP FA. There was/is a high upside to value for low downside at bad. I say this on other 5 pitch using pitchers. Find the 2 or 3 that work and save the other 2 when needed those 3 arent working.

This is the best overall collection of bench bats I can remember the Brewers having.

Maybe the only other team I think of in recent memory would be 2011 with Kotsay, Counsell and Morgan/Gomez.

This is a better summation of my earlier thoughts. Yang Hyeon-jong Yoo Hee-kwan and Chang Won-jun won the previous four Korean Cy Young’s before Lindblom went back-to-back. Sure, none had a major league track record prior to Lindblom but I’m not sure how his career in both leagues warranted a three year majors guarantee

Urias, while hitless, has had a couple nice deep ABs drawing walks today.

It's something...

The one thing when posts about how garbage comparable his bat is to Arcia. No Urias can battle and work a lot more walks. There's still a lot of dreaming on him. Start batting .270s and higher hell have a 330splus OB.

He got the ball every 5th day last year and was so bad the team was forced to put him in a role where he would randomly get tossed into games because they couldn't trust him to do anything other than pitch in blowouts.

My guess is that Hader’s agent complained about Hader not having any save opportunities this year so Counsell wants to set one up for him. Lindblom has orders to put two men in base.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

does the three batter minimum mean a guy has to finish a game if he gets one out in the 9th?

edit: no

I’m good with Lindblom getting the 9th.

He’s at 28 pitches thrown; they won’t let him throw another 28 however. Here’s hoping he can get the job done and give his teammates some rest

It took 59. That was painful to watch

You mean the '21 bench is better than the '03 sunflower seed spitters? That collection of splinter-grabbers featured such luminaries as Pete Zoccolillo, Keith Ginter, and The Immortal Brady Clark....better known as the Brady Bench!
