Brewerfan(ish) trip to St. Louis

bretsky07
Some friends and I are planning a trip to St. Louis for the the weekend of July 27-29. Does anyone have any suggestions for cheapish hotels and any personal experiences that could be helpful to share? Thanks!

we stayed at a Hampton Inn out by the airport and then took the Metrolink all the way into the stadium. It literally let's you off right at the front door.

Of course that hotel was about $120 a night but dang if it wasn't nice. Thought I was in a luxury hotel. I imagine downtown is a bit more pricey.

Otherwise, when we researched we didn't find anything less than $100 unless we wanted Motel 6, and even those were hard to come by.

We go to St Louis about 6 times a year and have found some pretty good deals using hotel.com. the Hampton Inn by the zoo is a good choice. We also got a great deal at a Double Tree Inn on west 270. Some great bargains ($60-80)can be found staying at the La Quinta Inn, Best Western Holiday Inn express, and Comfort Inns on the west side of town. You can get anywhere in St louis in about 15 minutes.

A place that I've always liked, but never stayed at is the Milennium Hotel. It's the one with the circular tower next to the Arch. it goes for about $120 a night which is cheaper than its surrounding hotels.

You can find some red roof inns under $50 on the west side of town.

as part of my search I noticed the baseball park hilton said that 26-29 july had some of their highest rates of July and August. they were sold out. Who would have thought hotel rates would rise just because the brewers were coming to town?

My reccomendation is to look for a hotel either by the airport or the west side of town and drive to the game. there is plenty of downtown parking. You could park at the Arch and walk over.

We went to the Lou a few years ago and had a blast. We stayed out near the airport and took the train downtown because we all wanted to partake in the solid nightlife near Busch. The only problem is that the train stops running between 12 and 1 and bartime is around 3 so we had to take a pretty expensive cab back to the hotel. There did seem to be a decent amount of downtown parking all for around $10 or less, and itts a pretty easy city to navigate so driving shouldn't be a problem

Our group decided to splurge and stay at the Hilton right at Busch. It's $220 a night, but with 4 of us, it's not so bad.

We'll be at both ends of the day/night doubleheader on Saturday... just look for the guy in the Ted Simmons retro jersey!

When we went we were about 3-4 blocks away and it was 100 bucks a night. Pretty nice sized rooms and looked right over the rams football stadium. I would suggest, if you are going to be drinking alot in/around the hotel, you bring beer in from Wisconsin, or dont buy it directly in St. Louis. When we went we checked out the Budweiser tours. That was pretty interesting. Hope you have a good time!

My dad & I are going down on Thursday, catching the Friday night game and the 2nd game of the double header on Saturday night. I'm excited for the Saturday night game, as our tickets are front row in the bleachers right in front of the Crew's bullpen. I can't think of the hotel that we booked, but I think it's about a mile away from the park.
