No Cash, No Paper Tickets, No Carry-ins..... No Problems?

rickh150
If months of advance notice on a ticketing policy that's already been in place for years is that big of a problem, I tend to side with user error and competence being the issue. I can't even imagine the issues that would come up if I had a phone that can't be scanned at this point.

Ok...but here's the issue, how many people have cracked screens on phones they're still using until they can afford to replace it? How often do phones go dead, people lose them...etc, etc...

I'm constantly having problems with my phones.

Do you really think more people lose their phones then would lose paper tickets? If, by some chance, you lose your phone or it doesn't work you can just login to your account on your friend's/spouse's phone. Someone in your group is bound to have a working phone. Most new cars nowadays have a USB plug built in so it's easy to keep your phone charged right up until you get to the stadium.

And if there still is an issue, you go to the ticket window and they’ll help resolve it. The Brewers aren’t going to refuse somebody, who has legally purchased a ticket, because their phone won’t work or they don’t have a smart phone. It might take longer to get in, but they’ll still get in.

One thing I don't agree with is that everybody will adjust and nobody will even notice after the initial complaints. The Brewers have many more people attending a 8 game Packers season or the Bucks who played about half a season under the new way in a new arena. The Brewers are certainly taking a risk with attendance. It will be hard to measure because of the pandemic and already reduced attendance in 2021 and who knows how many will stay away from large crowds in 2022 and going forward but I do believe attendance will take a hit.

If nothing else - this thread has at least given me comfort that I'm not the only person who assumes and obsesses that the worst possible scenario will play out in most situations. Of course, when I say "worst possible scenario" I mean relatively, like first world level worst possible scenario, which is actually not that bad at all, but in my head it's completely unreasonable and unacceptable. I have tried to be more relaxed, but I'm starting to think that its not a curable personality trait.

I asked my rep about the early renewal concession gift card from 2020 (that obviously expired without use last season). He said those are toast, but they are offering it again for 2021. I’m not sure what that means as I didn’t recall them offering such for renewing for 2021...but none the less he said a new card would be soon on the way. Maybe he just meant they are resending them for the 2020 renewal.

Working in the ticket office must be exhausting.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

FYI went to the Ticket Office today to purchase a pair of tickets for Friday, May 16th vs Pirates.

Good News: I was given a pair of hard copy, paper tickets in an envelope with a 2021 pocket schedule without even asking.

Bad News: They only had one window open and I stood in line for 30+ min in a line of about 5 people before they finally opened a 2nd window.

Ticket windows will give paper, no where else will give paper. That simple.

Oddly while I was searching for my reps email I stumbled upon a 2019 email for renewal that mentioned 2019 postseason and 2020 regular season would not have “print at home”...so the death of print at home was already a planned thing.

I just can’t figure out the big deal with letting people print at home.

The bottom line is that there will probably be some growing pains with an all-cashless system, both on the part of employees and fans. But once everyone gets used to it, things will be fine. I don't go to many games (don't live in Milwaukee, so I haven't specifically been to a Brewers game in a couple decades, probably), but I enjoy not needing cash.

A decade ago, I wouldn't have liked being forced into using apps for tickets (credit cards for payments have always been great), but it's 2021 and smartphones/mobile internet are much more reliable and ubiquitous, so I think it will be fine.

Now if you want to argue that the elimination of print-at-home tickets is unnecessarily restrictive for those who want to gift/share/sell their tickets, that's a different story.

And those that fumble around with the app when they get to the parking attendant at that point are probably the same people that don't start looking for their wallet until they're at the attendant either...

I can't agree with this. The time to find your wallet is the same as to find your phone and then after that it's: grab cash vs. unlock phone + wait for phone to load + find app + wait for app to load + find ticket in app... not to mention hope your internet is good + hope your phone hasn't died + hope you haven't been logged out of the app for some reason, etc... and a lot of that happens even if you do have your phone ready and it just enters the lock screen on you while you're pulling up to the parking attendant. I think you'll have more people that won't have the right screen on their phone ready to go and there's a lot more going on that can make it take longer than simply paying with cash or showing some sort of printed ticket.

Screenshot the QR code or bar code or whatever it is. Then all you have to do is open your photos, click the photo with the code and get it scanned. Simple, takes two seconds.

That works....for now. That technically is not something that is suppose to be allowed. Much like any other electronic ticket there is a little ball that rolls around on the screen and the Miller Park lights flash in the background. That isn't for looks, it is a verification step to confirm it isn't a copy/screenshot of the ticket.

I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually require you to have the legit ticket in the ballpark app.

Agreed, this is actually what I tend to do if I don't print it out, however if the conversation is about worrying about people who usually aren't prepared to hand cash to a parking attendant compared to people not being prepared to show their phone, this doesn't really apply. Otherwise, I could combat the "slow" cash exchange with, just have the correct change ready, and I'd still say that is faster than having to unlock a phone, pull up a photo, etc.

Which also works nicely for infiltrating the Club Level when you don't have a Club Level ticket but know somebody that does.

I no longer wonder why people can't print tickets at home anymore.

Mobile food ordering is:

Brat

Hot Dog

Peanuts

Popcorn

Miller 16oz can

Coors 16oz can

Pepsi/Diet Pepsi/Mtn Dew/Sierra Mist

Aquafina water

Field and Loge have two locations. Club and Terrace have one location.

I’m sure the locations and options will be more broad if this mobile ordering is actually effective in practice....but, pretty skimpy to start. Though the simplicity may be the only way for it to make any sense.

We had a challenge with digital tickets. I forwarded 3 of my 4 tickets to my normal group. They all received them in the app and they were visible. Three of us got in the stadium but we were waiting for my brother. His ticket disappeared from his app. I checked and it wasn’t in my account either. One of the attendants took my brother to the ticket window and by chance it was out ticket rep. He looked up our tickets by my name and saw that three of our tickets were used but my brothers didn’t. He ended up printing a ticket for my brother to use. Our ticket rep said this was the third or fourth person that this happened to yesterday. They made it right, but there definitely are some bugs in the system, but I think it works pretty well in general.

Yea, this is why I always screenshot the code AND if possible I just scan them all from my phone. I dont even deal with sending them.

As long as this works... great. Easy. Yet, others have mentioned that this might not work in the future, which concerns me.

Going to the game tonight and just noticed on the digital tickets it gives gate entry number and time (20 Minutes prior to game time). Do you have to follow this. Can we not enter prior to 20 minutes before the game and do I have to enter at the gate shown on the digital ticket??

I’m sure this is some concept hoping idiots follow it and lower the congestion at prime times to enter the park, but in reality you can enter anywhere at any time would be my guess. If this was actually I thing I’d expect a lot of angry people by now, but I haven’t heard anyone mention it being a problem.

One of my tickets this month is 10 minutes prior to game time. All I can say is “LOL”. If they block me from entering until 10 minutes before first pitch you won’t see me at another game all year. That’s flat out dumb.
