I sort of get the FG but I'd absolutely have gone for it. You'll probably have time for two more possessions and it removes the necessity of converting two 2pts. Technically you can still surrender a FG at some point and still go to OT.

Don't think it's going to matter at all. Not what I'd have done but I can see the thinking.

What is a field goal going to do for you here?

Meh. Two TDs wins it now. Getting two 2 point conversions just to tie is no sure thing.

By kicking the field goal, the win percentage jumped from 3.6% to 4%, so I guess?

Yeah I mean I just wouldn't have had a huge issue with either call and I think the percentages there probably reflect that.

Looks a lot worse if he misses obviously.

Guess the PAT is fine but at 23-18 you can give up a FG and it remains one possession. If you miss, you can still go to OT with a TD but yeah, you give up winning with 2 TDs. I think you can go either way but I'd go for 2 personally.

And at 23-16 a TD and PAT no longer wins it.

I guess I don't what the book says but my first instinct on going for 2 when a PAT puts you down 6 is that it would be a crazy and overthinking thing to do.

That's what I said. Personally I'd want to leave myself the margin for error of them getting a FG. If the worst case is being down 7 I'm fine with that but I'm more aggressive than most.

This is not the same 49ers squad that did whatever they wanted against gb in the 2019 nfccg....doesn't look like either team wants to make a playright now. Penalties, dropped gimme picks.

Rooting for the 49ers to eek this one out...

I honestly think SF/LAR/AZ are going to be similar opponents. I just want to play Saturday.

If they end up giving up a FG I think the clock is going to be the bigger problem. They simply need a stop.

I'd agree with that, on top of thinking az/lar would have a better shot at knocking Tampa off next weekend, too.
