I haven’t watched them much, how good has Hurts been? His numbers are mediocre by today’s standards. The Eagles have been mentioned as a front runner if there is a Rodgers sweepstakes as they have 3 first round picks.

Hurts gives their rushing offense multiple dimensions because of his running ability - he ran for almost 800 yards in 15 games played this season - he's adequate as a passer, but everything comes off the run in their offense. If a team can force them into predictable passing downs, Hurts is going to struggle having to drop back without play action or quarterback RPO plays where it's a quick decision to either pass to the primary receiver or execute a designed quarterback run. He's also pretty good when the Eagles go empty backfield and any edge rush breaks contain and he can scramble - a lot like Russel Wilson early in his career when he ran more, but not as gifted a passer.

If Tampa were healthy upfront I don't think Philly would have a chance because they would struggle to run the ball, but with dinged lineman and LBs I think Philly can make a game of it assuming their defense keeps Brady reasonably in check and their offense can eat up the clock. Philly would also have to connect on a couple shot plays to win this game, as their running scheme does tend to open up 1-on-1 matchups on the outside and they do have speed at receiver to get downfield.

Haven't really watched any Eagles this year, but Brady does have an 0-1 career postseason record against them for whatever that is or isn't worth.

Granted, the Eagles were only like a 4.5 point underdog in SBLII vs an 8.5 point underdog today, but 538 is still giving them a 20% chance, which are way better odds than Lloyd Christmas ever got.

Did I just witness the most exquisite playoff performance by a QB of all time? Rodgers’ march through Atlanta in the 2010 Super Bowl run was my previous #1, but what Allen just did to that defense is unbelievable.

It actually was. No team in playoff history had ever scored a TD on every possession. Now, technically they didn't because they got the ball back with <2 minutes left and didn't score but they just did three kneel-downs.

For as impressive as Allen's performance was, I think once the Bills got up a few scores the Pats pretty much mailed it in and the weather did play a role in that. The pick Hyde had to end the 1st Patriot drive was huge to take away a TD and really put deflate New England's sideline.

Allen has looked unstoppable multiple weeks and then the next he's back to his inconsistent self - tough to string 3 straight great performances together to reach the Super Bowl, but he definitely has the talent to do it...and their defense is good enough to win them a game where he might scuffle a bit.

At 7 - 6 I thought the Bills were cooked. They just didn't look like a Super Bowl team. They have as much talent as anyone in the NFL, but like FTC says, they're inconsistent. IF they play with the ferocity and focus they played with yesterday for 3 more games, they're gonna be tough to knock out.

I wish the Packers would spend a draft pick on a guy like Isaiah McKenzie.

Montana in Super Bowl 24 is the best. The Broncos had the #1 ranked scoring defense that season.

The AFC was the Minor Leagues for about 20 years until the Packers lost to Denver.

55-10 minor league?

I wouldn't put too much trust in a team that lost to the Jaguars, and that was when Urban Meyer was still the coach. I fully expect the Chiefs to take care of them in short order.

These things tend to go in cycles for whatever reason.

AFC won 9 of 11 SBs from 1971-81.

NFC won 15 of 16 SBs from 1982-97.

AFC won 9 of 12 SBs from 1998-2009.

Last 12 SBs have been an even NFC/AFC spli with parity's ascent.

I wouldn't put too much trust in a team that could only muster 13 points against the Packers defense.

The Bills already beat KC 38-20 in Arrowhead earlier this year. They had the best point differential in the league.

KC will be favored at home, but on paper KC/BUF is easily the most intiguing match up for next week over TEN/CIN or TB/DAL or GB/whoever.

The AFC has a pretty nice list of young QBs right now:

Allen

Burrow

Mahomes

Herbert

Jackson

I could see those five battling it out in the playoffs over the next decade

I can't speak to the other eras but most Super Bowls during my conscious lifetime have been really good. That 82-97 stretch had a looooot of stinkers. Before that I'm not very knowledgeable. But that NFC dominance stretch wasn't just about winning, it was a lot of 20, 30, and even 40 point wins.

That NFC run was pre free agency and fueled by powerhouse teams in Washington, SF, Giants, and Dallas. To be fair to the AFC Denver I think was favored in the Doug Williams game and Buffalo should have beaten the Giants so some bad luck and Elway stinkers but I don't remember thinking the AFC was that bad. Of course it had to be 12 point favorite GB that ended it.

Refs already enforcing The Brady Rules.

Yeah that was a lame penalty, on top of that there were 2 tips that seemed pickable but Brady always has that eternal rabbits foot. Not impressed with Eagles D there but maybe they adjust.

Is there a luckier player in NFL history than Tom Brady? I can't think of a single one. It makes me nauseous to a small degree.

I thought Philly would at least make this interesting for 2.5 quarters but yikes.

No idea why teams try to attack the perimeter against TB. They have so much speed on that defense, WR screens aren’t going anywhere. Nothing about watching that defense says run sweeps and WR screens.
