Waltzing?

lol

Dallas

Rams

Patriots

Eagles

Bills

All the above teams are in the playoffs. Miami and the Colts were no "waltz" teams either.

Packers schedule was comparable, but I don't think either team got to waltz through the season on gimme games.

9ers

Bengals

Cardinals

Chiefs

Rams

I guess we can count the Steelers..................who loosely made the playoffs.

Speaking of games next year, the schedule looks like this, excluding NFC North opponents:

HOME: Dallas, NY Giants, New England, NY Jets, Rams

AWAY: Philly, Washington, Miami, Buffalo, Tampa Bay

I'm not sure what the algorithm is for scheduling the 17th game but I'm guessing it's a home game against either Tennessee or Cincinnati. Maybe Kansas City.

EDIT: It is in fact Tennessee.

I know they’re establishing a rotation for the 17th game, but I still don’t like how the Packers conveniently drew the Chiefs @ Arrowhead for the first extra game (someone in the league office had an extra TV matchup mind). And now it just happens to be the defending #1 seed? It could have been Cincinnati.

Don't look now but the Packers are also a #1 seed... Maybe it actually makes sense?

quiet black monday, but i guess with Gruden and Meyer getting the axe already and Fangio fired on Monday, it is an average year for new head coaches with 6 openings so far. Only surprise is Judge, but I don't think is job is 100% safe with a new GM coming in.

I looked it up because I thought it was you match up 1-16 in each conference, but saw there would be some duplicate cross conference matchups. So, they have the rotation of playing all 4 teams from one of the divisions, and when they added the 17th game, that match-up is the equally ranked team from the division you played 2 years prior.

Examples: in 2019 we played the afc west, so this year we matched up against them. In 2020 we played the ABC south, since we were the #1 in our division we play the #1 in that division, the titans. The 2023 schedule will have us play whichever team wins the afc north in 2022 (because we will win the division next year again obviously) and so on.

Remember what Yoda said:

Really couldn't care less whether we had the Titans or Bengals at Lambeau next year. I wouldn't even venture a guess as to which team will be better in '22.

Also, in getting the Chiefs base on their 2020-21 schedule, it was very likely that they would be very good this year (frankly, we got lucky to catch them in a funk, but unfortunate Rodgers missed it). Tennessee will be good, but I'd bet money that they won't be close to the #1 seed next year.

It's pretty apparent that Hackett will be a head coach somewhere with all these openings and his name mentioned for a handful of them already to at least interview.

I'm hoping Gute is putting calls in to a few of the special teams coaches who have just seen their head coach canned (not MN, their ST unit sucks, too), and told them to take a nice 1.5 month vacation before heading to GB for an interview to coach special teams in 2022.

The Bears generally have had good special teams. Just saying.

Double-doink!

(Ok, that doesn't nullify their return/coverage teams, but it is just fun saying...and even funnier watching it)

Regarding the Bengals, I feel like the Burrow/Chase tandem is about ready to go supernova. Which in itself should be extremely frightening for the league because both guys already had really good statistical seasons this year. I feel like Ja'Marr Chase is going to take the throne of best WR in the NFL as soon as next year. So getting the Titans doesn't feel all that bad to me.

Their offensive line is garbage. If they can keep Burrow upright they have a chance. Against a very good pass rush I don't know.

Also, their head coach is kind of a dunce so he may try to "establish the run" instead of using the passing game.

But yeah, they could certainly go off given the right matchups.

Joe Judge canned as head coach of the Giants.

Rodgers was ripping him today on McAfee's show....final nail?

Perhaps we should stop winning our division. That will take care of that problem.

So we will never host a game against the AFC West and North and we will never visit the AFC South and East?

We will in the usual 8 year cycle but apparently not in the game 17 cycle. I suspect if they stay at 17 that game may be subject to change, I like the AFC parity game thing they are doing now but I could see more of a regional approach as well.

I was thinking more next season when writing this but it also wouldn't shock me if they make a run in the playoffs over the next few weeks. They can fix their O-line in the draft/FA.

Ah, yes. I agree. Might be worth betting a SB champs prop when the odds post.

Eric Weddle is unretiring to play for the Rams in the playoffs. How can this be allowed. MLB does it right. Not on the roster before 9-1, cannot be on the playoff roster. It doesn't move the needle at all, but still seems shady.

This happens once in awhile. I remember Charles Haley coming out of retirement years ago in the 90s to play for the 49ers in the playoffs, a few years after he had officially retired. He wasn't effective. I can't imagine Weddle will be either.

It seriously seems like the Rams' personnel department is run by the team's Twitter community.

I didn’t realize the Rams lost one of their safeties last week, maybe that explains that last drive and niners td in regulation, that was ugly. Sounds like desperation but they have all their chips in this a year.

Lost one safety and 2 others had some issues pop up as well during the game.
